2022 Mazda CX-30

The 2022 Mazda CX-30 is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a subcompact crossover with attractive styling. Despite competing in the affordable subcompact segment, the CX-30 offers an upscale design, sharing plenty of elements with a much bigger Mazda’s SUVs.

Unlike its rivals, this crossover has one of the most equipped cabins in the class. In traditional Mazda fashion, the interior is spacious, comfortable, and can fit five passengers in two rows. 2022 Buick Encore

One of the most selling models in the crossover segment, Buick Encore, is getting some updates for 2022. The new Encore will arrive in late 2021, featuring much better styling than its predecessor. According to the manufacturer, the upcoming crossover should also introduce more equipment.

At this point, we know that it will include active noise cancellation technology that helps block out noise for a more enjoyable ride experience. Additionally, the seating layout remains, and Encore can fit five passengers. Overall, a more modern cabin is present as well, including a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility and a rear vision camera as standard. Buick also has a great list of safety features. The Safety-II package includes forward collision warning, lane departure warning, front and rear parking assist, and rain-sensing wipers.

Under the hood, this model comes with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine rated at 155 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. Compared to last year’s version, that’s 17 more horses and 29 extra lb-ft. 2022 Jeep Renegade

The upcoming 2022 Jeep Renegade is a serious off-roader when properly equipped. This subcompact crossover receives a modest change through the years. For 2022, it will be a carryover with a few changes. First of all, it features chunky styling, thanks to its front fascia that includes a revised grille and the recognized round headlights. It also shares the same platform with the Fiat 500X and is designed for off-road adventuring. Indeed, depending on trim level, the Renegade can be equipped with front tow hooks, a skid plate, and a front that increases ground clearance.

Besides, like the previous generation, the new one comes with the same small cabin. It offers 18.5 cubic feet of standard cargo space or 50.8 cubic feet with the rear seat folded. On the tech side, the Renegade includes a standard 7-inch touchscreen display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity, and six speakers. Besides this engine, the Jeep also offers a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. Both versions work excellent with a new 9-speed automatic transmission. According to Jeep, the sales of the new Renegade will starts in fall this year. New Hyundai Tucson is the 2022 Best Crossover SUV

One of the most attractive crossover SUVs in the segment is definitively the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson. This model is recently released, featuring refreshed styling and an even better cabin. The whole front fascia is redesigned, and Tucson now sports a daring new design. Generally, thanks to many changes, this model goes head-to-head with several strong rivals such as the Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and the Volkswagen Tiguan.

Like the flagship Palisade model, the fresh new Tucson comes with a very modern cabin. Generally, stepping in, you’ll first notice a contemporary dashboard design with a digital gauge display. For 2022, the Hyundai added an 8.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, there is also room for an optional and larger 10.3-inch screen with built-in navigation.

Audi Q2 – Best small crossover SUV for 2022

Reportedly, the German’s small crossover, 2022 Audi Q2, will arrive in November. According to the manufacturer, the forthcoming model will finally get a refreshed look and better interior materials. First of all, Audi will revise its front fascia, making grille and headlights more eye-catching. Besides, the new Audi Q2 should also introduce some of the latest technologies.

However, inside, the upcoming generation will differ from its siblings, mostly from quality. Moreover, like its predecessor, the new crossover comes with the same seating layout, allowing five passengers to sit comfortably. The most favorite trim is the Black Edition that includes a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit and 8.3-inch infotainment touchscreen.

That is why we expect Q2 to be one of the best small crossover SUVs in 2022.

Under the hood, the latest crossover will be offered with a few engine options. The entry-level model deploys a 1.0-liter engine that delivers 116 horsepower, while the optional engine is still a 1.5-liter TFSI petrol engine that makes 150 hp. The most powerful version is a 2.0-liter engine using a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. According to Audi, the whole system delivers 200 horses. The all-electric powertrain is confirmed as well, and it will reportedly provide around 300 miles of driving range. The Audi Q2 will hit markets this year, starting at $32,500.

2023 BMW iX1

New spy photos of the 2023 BMW iX1 prototype are available, and the upcoming model looks much more attractive than the X1, on which it`s based. According to BMW, the UKL platform underpinning the current X1 will be replaced with the new one, called the FAAR platform. The same platform made its debut in 2019 in a redesigned 1-Series hatchback. Generally, at this point, it isn’t clear yet if this model will be bigger than the BMW X1, or it will be the same proportionally. However, the first impressions are positive, and the spy images reveal a new front fascia with a sealed grille and attractive headlights. The manufacturer’s plan is to make it more recognized and separate it from the standard X1.

As for the interior, there is no available information at this point, but we should expect a much more upscale cabin with lots of techs compared to the regular model.

It isn’t clear right now what powertrains BMW will use on its iX1. However, it’s more than likely that the entry-level model will use a single electric motor. However, a more ranging option will come with two engines forming an all-wheel-drive system. From many reports, buyers should expect a range of at least 250 miles. Expect this model to arrive sometime in 2022 as a 2023 model.

2022 Volvo XC40

Swedish smallest crossover SUV, the 2022 Volvo XC40, is getting some refreshments for the following year. Volvo introduced this model in 2019, and since then, this model gains an army of fans. For 2022, this small crossover will offer a carryover design featuring a few essential changes. The revised grille is present, as the more attractive headlights. This model roughly parallels bigger Volvo’s models with its signature grille honed-in by Thor’s hammer headlamps.

Inside, the XC40 offers room for five, with surprisingly decent space on the rear bench. Cargo space, though, measures 47 cubic feet behind the first row and 21 cubic feet behind the second row. The XC40, as standard, comes with a clean dashboard that hosts a 9-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone compatibility. Among the upgrades, buyers can get a mighty 13-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and navigation.

Volvo equips the latest XC40 with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 187 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque with front-wheel-drive. T4 edition is available with the same engine but with additional output of 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The T8 Recharge is the most favorite, and it consists of 150-kilowatt electric motors, each one positioned over an axle and a 78-kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined power reaches a robust 402 net horsepower and 486 pound-feet of torque. According to Volvo, the XC40 with this system reaches a 208-mile range. Volvo set release date of the XC40 for late 2021. As for the price, the base model should be around $35,000.

2023 Ford Fusion

The all-new 2023 Ford Fusion crossover was spied testing a few days ago for the first time. Reportedly, this model will be most likely called the Fusion Activ in North America and the Mondeo Activ in Europe. Blue Oval recently reveals that new model will ride on the C2 platform, which is used on the models like Ford Focus, Ford Escape, and many others. The new model wears heavy camo, which makes it difficult to discern some of the details. However, we managed to see some similarities with the famous Ford Edge model. Generally, both of them are wearing the same front grille and many of the qualities.

The Fusion cabin will most than likely reflect styling from the latest Mach E and Explorer models. That means we should expect a fully digital cluster and a vertically oriented center screen. Also, expect the latest version of the Fords Sync system, built-in navigation, and Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

So far, Blue Oval didn’t reveal any information regarding the engine specs of the upcoming Fusion. However, from various reports, it might use hybrid or plug-in hybrid systems. Generally, we must wait at least one year to find out its release date and price.

2022 Honda HR-V

The fresh new 2022 Honda HR-V was revealed to the public two weeks ago, featuring very handsome styling. This model landed in Europe with a new hybrid system, while the U.S. version is expected to arrive at the end of this year. However, according to many reports, the U.S. will be somewhat different from the EU version. First, the new HR-V for Europe offers more modern styling than the current model, hosting a distinctive large body-colored grille, thin LED headlights, and a sharply sloped rear hatch.

Besides exterior upgrades, the HR-V retains the same unique cabin as its predecessor. This SUV is offering a spacious rear seat and cargo area. The dashboard design is clean and elegant, with a new tablet-style 9-inch LCD infotainment system. It also comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay, although you’ll still need a cable to use Android Auto.

The new Honda HR-V will be one of the most reliable crossover SUVs for 2022.

Under the hood, the latest 2022 Honda HR-V will use a hybrid powertrain, similar to that of the Jazz model. It uses a 1.5-liter petrol engine linked with two electric motors, producing a total of 131 hp. Honda confirms release date for late 2021, starting at $25,000.

2022 Hyundai Kona

The 2022 Hyundai Kona is the subcompact crossover that is definitively worth waiting for. Hyundai recently reveals that the new model will feature many upgrades, and it should arrive in summer. For 2022, the manufacturer will make this model sharper and sleeker. Generally, this is the first significant makeover since its 2018 debut. However, if you’re looking for something sportier, no worries, Hyundai also offers a performance-oriented Kona N model with a more distinctive look. This version comes with a blacked-out grille, a creased and hole-punched hood, large air intakes, N badges, a dual exhaust, and a red pinstripe along the bottom edges of the spoiler.

As for the interior, the latest technology upgrades will bring a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. Also, a new digital instrument panel is present as well.

The base Kona comes with the same potent 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This powertrain is capable of producing 147 horsepower. The more upper trims Limited and the new N Line use a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder making 195 hp. In addition, this engine comes with a quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Finally, the most potent is a performance-oriented Kona N that comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks out 276 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the other engines, this one is available with a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and an electronic limited-slip differential. The release date of Kona is set for this summer, starting at $22,000.
