The upcoming 2022 Acura MDX is coming to the markets with a complete redesign. As you probably know, Acura skipped the 2021MY so the 2022 MDX is the model that will show its new suit. Thanks to that, the new MDX will share the same high-tech features and styling with the TLX and RDX variants. The next Acura MDX model will look sharper and it will offer more technology.
The three-row seating layout remains, but the interior will also host a lot of upgrades. Despite significant refreshments, the MDX model is not as luxurious as its rivals. However, Acura provides a handsome look, great performances, and the impressive high-performance Type S version. The sales will begin by the end of 2021 and the price will be slightly higher than before.
2022 Acura MDX Exterior
As in the previous years, the 2022 Acura MDX will arrive with mid-size dimensions. Still, the new model will be slightly longer than its predecessor. The highlight of the 2022MY is its exterior redesign. Thanks to that, the MDX crossover-SUV will now look more attractive and more modern.
We like how Acura opted for such a sharp design with sleeker exterior features. The front fascia is completely new, along with the rear section. New wheels will be on offer and the MDX model will also introduce a couple of brand-new exterior colors.
The forthcoming 2022 Acura MDX comes with a more premium cabin design, which is great to hear. The manufacturer will provide new leather materials and the dashboard will host more high-quality trims. Moreover, the interior wears new open-pore wood trims with piano-black and metal accents. The comfort is better and the MDX model will offer standard dual-zone climate control.
The seats are more supportive, but the third-row is still tight. The biggest upgrade on the inside is a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. This unit comes with the center-console-mounted touchpad and even the 12.3-inch gauge display is offered as standard. Acura provides features such as wireless smartphone charging, ELS Studio sound system, and in-dash navigation.
Engine Specs, Performance, and Transmission
Under the hood, the new 2022 Acura MDX comes with the same 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. This engine is capable of producing 290 horsepower. However, this unit is now mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This means the 9-speed gearbox is no longer available. The front-wheel-drive is standard, while the all-wheel-drive setup is optional once again. A hybrid powertrain will also reach the production, but Acura refused to give closer details.
Finally, there is a sporty Type S version. The MDX Type S model is using the 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine and it develops 355 hp. An all-wheel-drive is standard in this case. The base variant provides 19 mpg in the city and up to 26 mpg on the highway. Lastly, if you opt for the A-Spec model, you will get 22 mpg only.
How Much Will the 2022 Acura MDX Cost?
There will be five trim levels and the base 2022 Acura MDX will cost $48,000. The Technology variant is available for $52,500 and the A-Spec for $58,000.
The Advance trim level starts at $61,500 and the high-performance Type S at $65,000. Acura will launch its fourth-gen MDX at some point in the second half of 2021.
