If you’re looking for an SUV with seating for up to nine, look no further than the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban. The largest SUV in Chevy’s lineup comes with a length that outstretches its full-size Tahoe sibling. Moreover, it’s ideal for a big family to fit all passengers through three-row seats comfortably.

However, unlike the Tahoe sibling, the Suburban differs from many things. The new SUV has a more rugged styling and a trucklike body-on-frame chassis. Combined with powerful 6.2-liter V8 options, the Suburban is ideal for towing and hauling. Chevy confirms that refreshed Suburban is coming, and we should expect it to arrive at the end of the year.

2022 Chevrolet Suburban Redesign

The new 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is big in every way. Chevrolet has completely reworked the underpinnings of the Suburban, delivering a vastly improved driving experience. Compared to the Tahoe model, the Suburban is dimensionally over a foot longer, stretching nearly 225.7 inches.

The Suburban’s exterior is familiar and refreshed for 2022. However, it still remains rugged and very eye-catching. It’s recognized by its massive grille, boomerang-like running lights, and forward-angled c-pillars on the sides.

Massive Improvements Inside

Inside, this big SUV offers one of the roomiest cabins in its segment. Like its sibling, the Chevy Tahoe, the new Suburban comes with the same seating layout. It features three rows and can seat up to nine people. As such, it makes the Suburban ideal for large families. Unlike Tahoe, the Suburban comes with slightly better legroom and is more comfortable for adults. It offers an enormous 93.8 cubic feet setting down the third row, while folding the second row, it opens up 144.7 cubic feet. These numbers compared to Ford Expedition Max are much better.

Like before, the Suburban is available in six trims: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. The least-expensive trim LS features an infotainment setup of a 10-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. It also includes a 6-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, keyless system, remote start, and premium-cloth seats. However, going up for higher trims, buyers will have options to get 12-way power front seats with heating and ventilation, navigation, 10-speaker Bose audio, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. The Suburban High Country model, which is the pinnacle on the offer, adds a head-up display, surround-view camera, and rear camera mirror.

2022 Chevrolet Suburban Powertrain Specs

Like its predecessor, the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban will be powered by the same engines. The standard version is a 5.3-liter V8 that makes 355 horsepower. However, if that is not enough for you, Chevy also offers a more powerful 6.2-liter V8 that generates 420 horses and 460 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, a new 6-cylinder turbodiesel is available, producing 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This engine is optional on all, except the Z71.

All engines will use the same 10-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) is standard, while the 4-wheel drive (4WD) is optional. The new Suburban maxed out 8,300 pounds of towing.
