The refreshed version of the 2022 Genesis GV80 has been introduced alongside the smaller GV70 model. The popular carmaker has proven many times that it can challenge European and Japanese luxury brands. Releasing the refreshed version of the Genesis GV80, the manufacturer hopes to achieve much better sales and stay competitive in the segment.
Generally, this SUV is mainly known for its unique styling and an even better cabin. On top of that, Genesis’s first SUV is available with a proven turbocharged four-cylinder or a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Thanks to that, it will take on the models such as BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class.
2022 Genesis GV80 Redesign
The new 2022 Genesis GV80 is a medium-sized luxury SUV that looks attractive and eye-catchy. This SUV is featuring a sizeable crest-shaped grille and distinctive exterior headlights. Unlike many crossover SUVs, the GV80 offers characteristics more associated with a sports sedan. On top of that, it comes standard with a rear-wheel-drive system.
Overall, the design is fresh and distinctive elements include a classy and aggressive diamond-mesh grille, twin LED headlight, and taillight slats on each side. Dimensionally, the GV80 is 194.7 inches in length, nearly identical to the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5. The GV80 also offers an electronic suspension system that can adjust depending on conditions, calculating what adjustments need to be made.
More Comfort Inside
The cabin of the new 2022 Genesis GV80 is spacious with a symmetrical layout wrapped in leather. Special touches are present, and this premium SUV features more technology than its rivals. Moreover, like before, five passengers can sit comfortably across the first two rows. However, choosing the Advanced+ trim, buyers will get the third row, which’s useful for short people who take equally short trips.
In terms of technology, the latest GV80 comes standard with a 14.5-inch touchscreen display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The new SUV also includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone compatibility, a 12-speaker audio system, four USB ports, and Bluetooth. Shoppers can get a more powerful 21-speaker Lexicon audio system and a wireless device charger optionally.
2022 Genesis GV80 Powertrain Specs
The new mid-size luxury crossover, 2022 Genesis GV80, shares the same underpinnings with the next-gen G80 sedan. It also comes with the same 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that generates 300 hp. Besides this engine, the manufacturer also offers a more potent twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 375-hp.
According to some early testing, this version is capable of achieving 60 mph in just 5,3 sec. A hybrid variant is also in the works, but so far, Genesis hasn’t released any information about it.
Release Date, Price
The Genesis GV80 will gain for 2022 a mild refreshed styling and much more premium materials inside. This SUV, also as its predecessor, offers the same turbocharged four-cylinder and twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Both ones are potent, delivering outstanding performances. Genesis confirms that the new GV80 will arrive in the first quartal of 2022.
Pricing is not yet available, but it should remain in the range as the predecessor. That means it could start a little less than the $50K. Of course, loading more equipment, the price will drastically jump. The main rivals of the GV80 are models such as BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class.
