The new 2022 Honda Pilot test mule has been caught recently, and it seems bigger and bolder. The next-generation from the latest reports will bring many improvements includes a rugged design and much more minivan proportions. Judging from the first spy shots, the upcoming Honda Pilot will share many cues with the recently updated Ridgeline pickup truck.
Power should once again be drawn from a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that is capable of delivering 290 horses and 267 lb-ft of torque. The new SUV represents the fourth generation of the Pilot line that’s going to hit markets in 2022.
2022 Honda Pilot Design
The more rugged design is present on the new 2022 Honda Pilot. As we mentioned, a few days ago the test mule has been caught wearing heavy camouflage.
However, the next-gen model looks refreshed, and its proportions are similar to those of the redesigned 2022 Acura MDX. Generally, that’s expected, considering that both models are sharing the same platform. Thanks to this platform, the Pilot is 2.8 inches longer in its wheelbase compared to its predecessor. The platform is stronger than the one it replaces, which provides better dynamics. In terms of exterior styling, the forthcoming model will include a fresh front fascia with a much bigger grille and headlights.
At this point, there is no much information available regarding the interior of the 2022 Honda Pilot. We know that seating layout will translate roomy cabin for up to eight passengers in three rows. However, expect this time more legroom, thanks to a wheelbase that grows. This should also translate to easier access in the third row. Like its predecessor, the new Honda Pilot is available with few trim levels.
We recommended at least EX trim. This trim level includes features like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, remote engine start, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 8-inch touchscreen, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, one-touch folding 2nd-row seats. Moreover, it also includes blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, illuminated vanity mirrors, and more.
2022 Honda Pilot Under the Hood
The new flagship model, 2022 Honda Pilot, will continue to be powered by the same proven engine. This model will use a 3.5-liter V-6 mill producing 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. Like before, engine will be available with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Drive should be to the front wheels as standard, while all-wheel drive is optional. The same setup is available in the redesigned MDX. A plug-in hybrid is also likely at some point.
Release Date, Price
Besides the 2022 Honda Pilot, many models are on the way, which includes a redesigned CR-V. According to tp various reports, the facelifted SUV is expected to debut later this year as a 2022 model.
Generally, the Honda Pilot plays an important role as a member of the Honda lineup. Even with the Covid-19 restrictions, this model is breaking all the selling numbers in the United States. From the latest official report, Honda sold 123,813 copies of this SUV last year. As for the pricing of the next generation, we should expect a slight increase. The current model in basics form starts at $33,000, while the most expensive Pilot Black Edition tops out at $51,000.
