The spy shots of the upcoming 2022 Kia Sportage reveals a quirky styling. We’ve already seen last year several spy photos of the latest Sportage, testing at different environments. However, like the previous prototype, the new one is wearing the same amount of camo.

According to various reports, the global reveal of this attractive SUV could happen in June for the US market. The Kia Sportage hasn’t seen a redesign since 2017, but that hasn’t slowed down its sales. For 2022, the successor will receive a slight price increase for some trims and a handful of standard features. Besides, it will keep the same line of potent engines.

2022 Kia Sportage Redesign

The new spy shots of the upcoming 2022 Kia Sportage don’t reveal significant visual changes at all. Like the previously captured prototype, the new one is completely disguised. Generally, the new Sportage is expected to carry over many cues from its predecessor. It features a new Kia’s revamped badge that will be present on all future models.

The Nightfall version is the new trim that will make this SUV looks more sporty. This trim adds touches like a gloss dark gray grille with a black piano frame, plus side cladding, roof rails, and various other elements all in black.

Interior Upgrades

With enough room for five passengers in two rows, the latest 2022 Sportage isn’t the most spacious compact crossover in its class. The top player is still Honda CR-V, which is keeping great. Like the previous model, the successor will offer rear legroom of 38.2 inches and cargo space that goes from 30.7 to 60.1 cubic feet.

Generally, for 2022, there are plenty of soft-touch plastics, and a dashboard is more pleasant and user-friendly. Basically, there are much more amenities inside than before. The base model comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB port, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, and a 160-watt/6-speaker audio setup. Nightfall Edition package replaces the S trim, while the EX trim is now equipped with a panoramic sunroof as standard. Driver aids are also better, and you’ll get a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, and lane-keeping assistance.

2022 Kia Sportage Engine Specs

Like the outgoing version, the new 2022 Kia Sportage will be powered by two engine options. The base model deploys a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter 4-cylinder unit that produces 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Besides this engine, the manufacturer also offers an optional turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder configuration that delivers 240 horsepower or 237 with all-wheel drive.

Interestingly, both models are connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission using a front-wheel-drive (FWD) as the basic setup. Moreover, all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional at every trim level. The maximum towing capacity is still 2,000 pounds, which is acceptable in its class.

Release Date, Price

The reveal of the facelifted 2022 Kia Sportage will most likely happen in June, as per the latest news. Besides some small exterior changes on the front, the upcoming SUV will also gain more standard equipment.

Generally, as the bestselling SUV so far, the Sportage is very important for Kia. As we said, the price is increased, and the EX trim starts at $29,565, which is $1000 more, while the new Nightfall costs $2000 more or a total of $29,265.
