The comeback of the new 2022 Nissan Xterra might happen next year, after six years in quarantine. If you didn’t know, this stylish SUV was discontinued in 2015, and since then, we have heard many stories about its return. Back in 2017, the vice president of Nissan gave us some hope, suggesting that the Xterra might come back in the following years. Unfortunately, four years after that, the revival hasn’t happened yet. Ford recently brought back the Bronco, and Land Rover has brought back the Defender, so Nissan could also make the same with the Xterra model.

Moreover, the latest rumors reveal some interesting information about the upcoming Xterra, and it seems that we don’t have to wait much longer for its introduction. Reportedly, this SUV will debut next year with a completely new design. Here’s everything that we managed to collect about this popular SUV.

Is Nissan Coming Out With a New Xterra?

Many rumors suggest that the new 2022 Nissan Xterra is coming, and it should borrow plenty of characteristics from the Frontier Pickup truck. Considering that, we expect a beautiful appearance with a plethora of unique details.

There are already a couple of rendering photos, and the new Nissan Xterra dominates on the front. It features the same stylish grille, LED headlights, built-in roof rack, and tailgate blister as the recently revealed Frontier truck. However, the rest of its body looks like a typical SUV with a boxy overall shape.

Cabin Rumors

The inside of the 2022 Nissan Xterra is another mystery. Many believe that the new SUV will influence a lot from the latest Frontier pickup truck. Honestly, we are expecting a more bit nicer package of amenities and refined materials. Thanks to its proportions and boxy shape, the new SUV will most likely offer pretty generous legroom, with plenty of headroom, as well.

Besides, we count on a very spacious cabin that should fit five or seven passengers. The third row may come as standard or as an option. Overall, in both cases, the Xterra at least must have standard infotainment of a 12.3 -inch digital dashboard that’s compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The same system is present on the Rogue model.

If Nissan were to bring the Xterra back, we think that the new model would use some of the existing engines. Generally speaking, Nissan offers a vast number of powertrains, and the closest is the Frontier’s engine.

This pickup truck employs an incredible 3.8-liter V6 making a best-in-class 310 horsepower. This powertrain uses a 9-speed automatic transmission, which was introduced last year. Besides this engine, there is also the possibility that Nissan will add at least one mild-hybrid system.

Release Date and Price

We don’t have much information about the 2022 Nissan Xterra at this point. If rumors are accurate, we can expect a comeback of this model to happen sometime next year.

The new model should introduce a completely new design and an even much better cabin. If it arrives, we presume that it would cost somewhere between 30.000 and 35.000 dollars for the base model.
