One of the best-selling mid-size SUVs in the class, the Acura MDX, will be redesigned for the following year. As far as we know, the 2023 Acura MDX, will, unfortunately, come as a carryover model. If you didn’t know, the last model was completely redesigned, so, expect the new SUV to introduce minor updates only.

As mentioned, last year’s model was fully redesigned and it looks closer to the TLX sedan. Both models come with the same eye-catchy design language. Unfortunately, under the hood, the new MDX will come with the same engines, providing great performances.

Is Acura Redesigning The MDX?

The fourth-generation 2023 Acura MDX will receive some mild changes over the current generation. However, the last year’s model has grown in size and it was being nearly two inches larger, with a wheelbase that has grown by 2.8 inches compared to previous generation. As we said, the new MDX shares the same design language as the TLX sedan, providing an incredibly attractive look. It`s 198.4 inches long and 78.7 inches wide.

According to Acura, the design of the MDX was inspired by the wind-shaped rocks of Arizona’s Antelope Canyon. Noteworthy exterior details are the Diamond Pentagon grille, attractive LED headlights, and 3-element LED fog lamps. Viewed from the side, this model features a raked roofline, black B- and C-pillars, and Twenty-inch wheels. Also, in sporty A-Spec form, you’ll get a black grille, A-Spec badges, and 20-inch Shark Gray wheels with a machined finish.

Interior Updates

Like its predecessor, the new 2023 Acura MDX looks very sporty and modern. The cabin was revamped last year and this model offers 16.3 cubic feet of space behind the 3rd row, 39.1 behind the 2nd row, and 71.4 behind the first row. Also, the Acura MDX is roomy, with a third row that is still best for kids or small adults.

For 2023, the manufacturer will provide more standard features. The base model comes with leather interior upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen center console. The technology that are also standard includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a wireless charging pad, a 9-speaker audio system, and USB charging ports for the first two rows of seats.

2023 Acura MDX Engine Specs

The forthcoming 2023 Acura MDX will use the same engines as its predecessor. The current model uses a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that makes 290-horsepower. However, from official information, the new model will come with a new 10-speed automatic transmission rather than a nine-speed. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive offered comes as an option.

The more powerful engine powers the Type S model. Moreover, this one uses a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine with 355 horsepower and all-wheel drive as standard. One of the biggest issues is its fuel economy rating. The MDX offers 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

Will There be a 2023 Acura MDX?

The redesigned 2023 Acura MDX crossover will hit the dealerships next summer. This SUV is available in a few trims, on which the entry-level model starts at $47,000.

As you may notice, the price is slightly higher, which makes sense, considering the number of upgrades. On the other hand, the range-topping Type S variant is a favorite option that costs around $65,000.
