BMW has introduced the new X2 model with more updates than we thought. Unlike its predecessor, the forthcoming 2023 BMW X2 features a more attractive design. It looks refreshed and the manufacturer made some changes at the front and rear. For those who didn’t know, the X2 is a very small subcompact luxury SUV with the same proportions like the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.

Just like before, the BMW X2 continues to share its standard powertrain with the X1 model. The engine consists of a turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of producing 228-hp. It uses an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. If you want all-wheel drive, you’ll need to pay additional $2000.

2023 BMW X2 Redesign

The 2023 BMW X2 looks modern, sleeker, and more stylish than before. It also has more sporty lines, especially if you go for the M Sport model. For 2023, the manufacturer made some modifications on the front adding better headlights graphics. However, the high-performance model on the other hand looks sportier thanks to an aerodynamic body kit, bigger wheels, and Shadowline exterior trim.

The BMW X2 is compact and proportionally about the same size as the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class. However, models in the same class such as the Audi Q3, Volvo XC40, and even the BMW X1 are all a little bigger.

Better Comfort Inside

The new 2023 BMW X2 offers a comfortable interior that might seem cheap by luxury SUV standards. We must mention that even the entry-level SUVs like the Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40 have notably better interiors. However, the X2 has a very comfortable and roomy cabin, especially at the front. The driver’s seat is very supportive and SensaTec faux leather comes standard, while Dakota Leather seats are optional.

The X2 also hosts an excellent infotainment system of an 8.8-inch screen or an optional larger 10.25-inch one. It also comes standard with navigation, Android Auto (alongside Apple CarPlay).

2023 BMW X2 Engine Specs

Just like the smaller X1, the new 2023 BMW X2 will be powered by the same engine. Under the hood of this SUV is a potent 228-hp turbocharged four-cylinder paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. BMW also offers all-wheel drive optionally for $2000.

The base engine according to BME is able to run from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, which is a little slower than the Volvo XC40 T5. If that’s slow for you, the manufacturer also offers a high-performance M35i model that is able to pump out 302 horsepower. Unlike the base model, this one can dash from 0 to 60mph in 4.6 seconds.

Is the 2023 BMW X2 Worth Buying?

The answer is definitively yes. The new 2023 BMW X2 costs $37,595 for the base sDrive28i model. However, if you go for the xDrive28i, the price will jump to $39,595, which is $2000 more. The most powerful is the M35i starting at $48,000. Definitely, the M35i deserves your attention because it has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces more than enough 302 horses.

All mentioned models will reportedly be available for purchase at the end of summer. Just like before, we expect the X2 to compete with the models Audi Q3, Volvo XC40, and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.
