The spy shots of the new 2023 BMW X5 emerged online, and it seems the new SUV looks refreshed. Generally speaking, X5 is at an early stage of testing, and the final product might differ from the prototype. However, spy shots are available, and we noticed that X5 is wearing a mid-cycle update.

The tweaks to the exterior will be minimal, but we can expect a more modern cabin judging by officials. BMW is one of the best manufacturers, because they make very durable and quality cars. So, it’s more than likely that it will feature some updates, including a more better-advanced infotainment system with a larger screen and plenty of standard equipment.

2023 BMW X5 Redesign

BMW is at an early stage of testing the upcoming 2023 X5. By the way, we have some exclusive spy shots that are taken on one of the automaker’s many engineering centers in Germany. The spied model looks refreshed but without significant changes.

Judging from the first photos, the tweaks to the exterior will be mild. First of all, we noticed the new headlight graphics and revised fascia’s front and rear. Spotted mild wearing camo, the prototype also reveals mid-cycle updates, including modified bumpers and revised lighting units. The grille is heavily wrapped, but we presume some changes as well. The more aggressive-looking M Sport model should deploy the sport-oriented all-wheel-drive system to upgraded braking and suspension components. This model also rides on 21-in wheels.

Cabin Improvements

Much more significant changes will occur in the cabin. The new 2023 BMW X5 will adopt a more modern interior with a freestanding digital instrument cluster. Also, the same infotainment system that is used on the iX is present as well. From what we can see, the digital instrument cluster is expected to measure 12.3 inches, while the infotainment system should come in at 14.9 inches.

Also, as part of standard equipment, the manufacturer offers navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and a 10-speaker/205-watt audio system. We can also expect many standard features and plenty of driver aids. The current standard safety systems include frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning.

2023 BMW X5 Powertrain Specs

It isn’t clear at this point what is planned for the 2023 BMW X5 powertrains. But some improvements to efficiency and performance are likely. In the United States, the current X5 is available with a choice of 3.0-liter turbo inline-6 or 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8.

Besides, the inline-6 is available as well in plug-in hybrid guise. However, the most potent engine is under the hood of the X5 M model. This model can spit out 600 horsepower in standard guise and 617 hp in an X5 M Competition model. Don’t expect a battery-electric powertrain, at least with this generation.
