Despite rumors that Ford is killing Edge, many speculations indicate that the new generation is just around the corner. The upcoming 2023 Ford Edge will reportedly arrive with all-wheel drive as the standard setup for all trim levels. Ford will allegedly drop the front-wheel-drive layout, and it will try to stand up with this move from its rivals.
However, according to some gossips, the major tweaks will happen inside. The updated Edge will come with a big 12-inch infotainment display running the latest Sync 4 software. Unfortunately, at this point, there is no clue what engine will be used to power this SUV.
2023 Ford Edge Exterior
The exterior design of the new 2023 Ford Edge will be much modern than before. According to some gossips, the front should be equipped with a large chrome grille flanked by bi-LED low and high beam automatic headlamps. In addition, we expect to see some better graphics on daytime running lights and the rear-to-house LED taillights as standard.
Meanwhile, upper trims like SEL and Titanium adds LED fog lamps. Moreover, all trims are offered with a black plastic bottom front fascia and a rocker panel cover for extra off-road protection. As for the wheelbase, the Ford Edge measures 112.5 inches, which is 3 inches shorter than the new Mazda CX-9.
Interior Updates
One of the many attributes of the 2023 Ford Edge is its roomy cabin. This five-seater offers a modern interior and generous 40.6 inches of legroom. As for luggage space, the Edge measures 39.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats, and this can be increased to 73.4 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded. The highlight is a new center console with a vertically oriented 12-inch touch screen and a rotary gear selector.
The Titanium trim is the best option because it brings a wireless charging pad. The ST trim is also available, featuring front seats with suede-like inserts and a digital instrument cluster.
2023 Ford Edge Engine Rumors
The engine of the 2023 Ford Edge is still a big mystery. Many believe that the new generation will keep the same two engines from its predecessor. The current base model comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit developing 250 horsepower. This engine uses a fuel-saving stop/restart feature, and Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard.
Reportedly, this will change with the new release, and we should expect an All-wheel drive (AWD) as standard. Alongside this unit, Ford also offers a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that endows the Edge ST model with 335 horsepower. Both engines should be paired with six-speed automatic transmissions.
2023 Ford Edge Release Date and Price
The refreshed 2023 Ford Edge could debut in early 2022 with some improvements. Alongside this model, Blue Oval is preparing a three-row version of the Escape that will be exclusive made for China market.
This model will look identical to the five-seat version but will house extra passengers seats. Reportedly, Ford has no intention of bringing this product to the United States. As for price, the latest Ford Edge will cost slightly more than before. The current SUV starts at $32,495, while loaded ST could easily exceed $50,000.
