The new 2023 GMC Acadia is on the way, as per many reports. Fun fact is that the upcoming SUV will differ from the last generation in many things. First of all, we heard that GMC would completely redesign this model, giving more aggressive and sporty styling. Also, comfort inside will be enhanced with more quality materials and plenty of new techs.

From GMC’s last statistics, the Acadia sales fell to 88,621 units in 2018, rising to 99,429 units in 2019. Putting those figures into context, in 2020, the Acadia drops to 72,537 units, which is due to the Corona outbreak.

2023 GMC Acadia Facelift

The exterior design of the 2023 GMC Acadia will be more conservative yet distinct. From the information that is available, the next-generation model will be completely redesigned. The current SUV also looks classy, and its design varies depending on which trim you choose.

However, every Acadia has its own personality outside. For example, selecting the off-road-ready AT4 model and the luxurious Denali trim, the styling is more premium yet rugged. The AT4 trim includes a few off-road features like AWD, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, and an appearance package. The Denali trim, on the other hand, comes with a unique chrome grille.

Cabin Upgrades

The 2023 GMC Acadia interior is sitting between mainstream and luxury. Generally speaking, the cabin is more premium but not quite as nice as more expensive SUVs. Like the current model, the new one offers a practical and quiet cabin that can accommodate seven passengers.

However, from what we heard, GMC will make some drastic changes adding more quality. The Acadia Denali has premium interior features like heated 2nd-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and wireless charging. However, a few features still cost extra, even on the Denali, like adaptive cruise control and a sunroof.

2023 GMC Acadia Powertrain Specs

When it comes to engines, the new 2023 GMC Acadia will probably use some old ones, plus it might get at least one new. The current model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo naturally aspirated inline-4 as the base engine, producing 230 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine provides an outstanding balance of performance and efficiency, especially in front-wheel-drive form.

The other engine option consists of a 3.5-liter V6 unit that comes standard on the AT4 and Denali models. Unlike the first engine, this one produces 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. The max towing rating with the V6 is 4,000 pounds which are acceptable for this class. Both engines are available with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The AT4 trim comes standard with all-wheel drive and active torque control, while other Acadia models come standard with FWD or AWD as an option.

Release Date, Price

The release date of 2023 GMC Acadia will most likely happen in the second quartal of the following year. As we mentioned, the new SUV should come with many upgrades, especially inside. Reportedly, it will gain a more attractive design and even more comfortable interior, filled with more techs than before.

Considering all the above, we should expect the new model to cost a thousand dollars more. The current model starts at 35,000 for the basics variant, and it can go up to 50k for Denali trim. Like before, the GMC Acadia will continue to compete with models like the Chevrolet Traverse, Volkswagen Atlas, and Mitsubishi Outlander.
