The much bigger 2023 Honda Pilot is coming. A prototype of the new three-row next-generation SUV has been spotted heavily camouflaged. However, it’s not hard to notice some changes, and we can expect some influences from the last Ridgeline pickup.
Actually, the more rugged design is present, and it seems that Pilot is coming with new proportions. The platform is shared with the new Acura MDX, meaning that we can expect a more rigidness than the one it replaces. Besides, we heard that the interior would be revamped with more quality materials and plenty of advanced techs.
Will the 2023 Honda Pilot Be Redesigned?
The answer is pretty straightforward, yes. From the latest information, the upcoming 2023 Honda Pilot will be bigger and bolder. Considering that this SUV is seating on the same platform as the Acura MDX, we expect an extra 2.8 inches of length compared to its predecessor. Although it’s nowhere near as popular as the CR-V, the Honda Pilot still plays a vital role in the segment.
The new model is spied testing, heavily camouflaged. As we can see, some changes are available on the front and rear ends. First of all, expect a more attractive grille that should dominate again and the revised LED headlights. According to images, roof rails are optional on the lower trims and the 20-inch alloy wheels. A power-operated tailgate is a great reason to investigate and goes for the EX-L trim. However, hands-free tailgate variation becomes standard only on the SE level.
Cabin Upgrades
The new 2023 Honda Pilot is a few inches longer, and that will definitively translate to the inside. Generally speaking, the current model has a roomy cabin with more overall space than a Toyota Highlander. However, we think that the upcoming model will be in line with Subaru Ascent and Volkswagen Atlas.
The entry-level LX is a trim that’s pretty well equipped. This model features cloth-covered seats and just a 5-inch infotainment display. However, for 2023, we should expect the infotainment screen to be replaced with the bigger one, probably 8-inches. Leather upholstery and more amenities are available, choosing at least EX-L trim.
2023 Honda Pilot Engine Specs
Beneath the hood, the 2023 Honda Pilot will most likely use once again a 3.5-liter V-6 powertrain with excellent output. This model is rated at 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque and is hooked to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
If you didn’t know, the same setup is available in the redesigned MDX. The Honda Pilot comes with front wheels as standard, but you can count on the all-wheel-drive optionally. Besides this engine, there is gossip that Honda will also add a new plug-in hybrid option at some point. However, this claim is not yet officially confirmed.
Release Date, Price
One of the most selling SUVs on the market, Honda Pilot, will receive some refreshments for the upcoming year. Spy shots are available, and they reveal many upgrades. Moreover, if you are looking for a big and sturdy family SUV, then the new Honda Pilot is worth waiting for.
According to many reports, the 2023 Honda Pilot will arrive next year, featuring a great look. Pricing is not yet determined, but we can expect it to be more than the current one that starts at $33,000. This model is in the same area as the Toyota Highlander and Subaru Ascent, but is slightly below the Ford Explorer.
