The new 2023 Land Rover Defender will bring a more premium look than its predecessor. This compact SUV is known as a modern, high-tech off-roader with unique curb appeal. Some may consider the Jeep Wrangler a better and cheaper alternative, but the Defender beat it in many ways.

Like before, the Defender can be had in two forms. There are two-door 90 and four-door 110 body styles. On top of that, the trio of engines is offered, and you can get either a turbocharged four-cylinder, a turbo-and-supercharged six-cylinder, or mighty supercharged V-8. Fun fact is that all of them come standard with four-wheel drive system.

The new 2023 Land Rover Defender SUV looks much more attractive than before, and the manufacturer has made some changes. First of all, ground clearance is now 11.5 inches, allowing a maximum wading depth of 35.4 inches with the adaptive air suspension.

The V8 version gains a more aggressive look, thanks to a Carpathian Edition with dark grey paint and black accents. Moreover, higher trims can be get with a Extended Black Exterior or a Bright Exterior pack, providing a sportier look. However, it’s important to mention that those models with the V8 don’t have roof rails, but a cool-looking quad exhaust system is present. As a true off-roader, a full-size spare wheel is attached to the tailgate.

Cabin Redesign

The cabin of the 2023 Land Rover Defender sports a more premium look compared to its predecessor. Everything inside is utilitarian, with a rugged appearance. The Land Rover Defender comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that uses a new interface called Pivi Pro. However, you can also get a larger 11.4-inch display that’s optional.

Unlike the rest of Land Rover models, the Defender comes with a single touchscreen instead of two. It offers quicker response times, and best of all, it can handle over-the-air software updates for future releases. Also, as standard equipment, the new Land Rover Defender also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an in-dash navigation system, a six-speaker stereo, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. As optional, buyers can get 10 or 14-speaker Meridian stereo systems, a digital gauge cluster, and a head-up display.

The refreshed 2023 Land Rover Defender is the model that is available with three different engines. The entry-level model uses a turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Defender is also available with a potent 3.0-liter inline-six powertrain which utilizes an electric supercharger and 48-volt hybrid system.

For buyers that are looking more powerful machine, the manufacturer offers a 518-hp supercharged V-8. According to Land Rover, this engine can hustle the Defender to run 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Every model features a four-wheel drive and a locking differential.

Release Date and Price

The 2023 Land Rover Defender will hit markets later in the year, featuring some upgrades. The most exciting news is that it will be available with a 518-hp supercharged V-8 engine taken from the Range Rover Sport model.

A new XS trim is available as well, but unfortunately, only choosing the 110 models. As for the price, we can expect the Land Rover Defender to starts at a little less than $50,000 for the entry-level model. However, more upper trims can increase the price by around $20,000 more.
