The redesigned 2023 Lexus GX 460 has been confirmed, and we can expect it to debut in the fall of next year. This truck-based SUV has a sturdy reputation. Reportedly, the new model will continue to be built on the aging body-on-frame construction, using the same naturally aspirated V8 engine.

On the other hand, we can expect many improvements inside, including more premium materials and gadgets. However, like the outgoing model, the upcoming one will come in the same form, providing seven-passenger space through three rows. Besides, plenty of other contenders in the same class offer more invested money, like the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. Generally speaking, all mentioned models have more refined ride qualities than the Lexus GX models.

2023 Lexus GX 460 Redesign

For the next year, the manufacturer will make some changes to the 2023 Lexus GX 460. However, it will still be built on the same body-on-frame construction that slowly shows its aging. The new GX will get an updated large spindle-grille that is flanked by triple-beam LED headlights from available information.

The boxy look will also remain, but with some new lines here and there. We can expect the same tailgate that swings like a door with a side hinge in the back. This is uncommon, considering that all SUV models have a traditional tailgate that lifts up. Like the outgoing model, we can expect the new one to come with the same Kinetic Dynamic Suspension. This system improves on-road performance by enhancing ride quality while also optimizing off-road performance.

Cabin Improvements

The new 2023 Lexus GX 460 is the SUV that has 3-row/7-occupant seating. This model is one of the most recognized in the class thanks to its boxy shape, which translates into excellent headroom and cargo space. The 2nd-row seat can slide/recline and folds in 40/20/40 fashion, while the third-row folds flat. The buyers can also get a 2nd-row captain’s chair optionally, cutting the seat count to six.

Like on the many nowadays SUVs, the third row is best suited for kids. The base trim is acceptable, featuring NuLuxe simulated leather upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, power moonroof, power-adjustable steering column, keyless entry/ignition, and more. However, the real stuff comes with Premium trim and Luxury. Highlights include center-row captain’s chairs, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound stereo, a navigation system, etc.

2023 Lexus GX 460 Engine Specs

The 2023 Lexus GX 460 will come unchanged, at least under the hood. According to reports, this SUV will use the same 4.6-liter V8, making 301 horsepower. This unit comes with all four wheels, sending power through a reliable 6-speed automatic transmission. On top of that, the Lexus GX 460 also includes a 2-speed transfer case and a locking center differential. This system is very important if you want to drive this luxurious Lexus SUV off-road.

Many believe that the next Lexus GX 460 will be much more efficient than the outgoing model. The predecessor provides a 15 mpg city/19 mpg highway/16 mpg combined with the same engine. Also, there is a rumor that Lexus might, alongside this engine, provide at least one hybrid system to keep race with other manufacturers.
