The all-electric 2023 Lexus RZ 450e has been revealed, featuring very futuristic styling. Lexus first foray into the EV segment was started a few years ago with the UX 300e subcompact crossover, which was offered in select markets.

The Lexus RZ 450e looks way more luxurious than the Toyota bZ4X, which is mechanically related to the Subaru Solterra. Surprisingly, the manufacturer released a video of the upcoming SUV, showing that it’ll be more than just a rebadged EV. Interestingly, this model comes with all-wheel-drive as standard and is mounted with two electric motors.

2023 Lexus RZ 450e First Look

The new 2023 Lexus RZ 450e looks handsome, and it has a different shape and the upper character lines compared to the Toyota bZ4X. In general, the design is unique, and there is no way to mix this model with other Lexus. The fresh look brings attractive grille, headlights and wheel design housing shiny black arches.

Moving at the back, the Lexus RZ 450e looks sleek, featuring dual-piece roof spoiler and attractive LED taillights. Compared to the equivalent Toyota and Subaru EVs, this model looks way better. We also noticed two badges on the tailgate, whereas the “LEXUS” lettering is placed above the center of the light bar.

Premium Interior

Stepping inside, you’ll realize the 2023 Lexus RZ 450e has a very familiar cabin. Just like other premium Lexus models, this SUV looks luxurious and modern. Lexus did a great job adding high-quality materials and the digital instrument cluster, which sits at a normal distance from the driver.

As standard equipment, this SUV is available with a large 14-inch touchscreen, which is bigger than the 12.3-inch infotainment available found in the Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ4X. The mid-size five seater will also offer a plentiful of safety features, including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

2023 Lexus RZ 450e Motor Specs

The all-electric 2023 Lexus RZ 450e packs more punch than the Toyota bZ4X. This model draws power from two electric motors. The front-mounted electric motor offers 150 kW, while the rear e-motor with 80 kW. Combined, they can push around 230 kW, producing 308 horsepower.

As you can see, this is a significant bump of 93 hp over the Subaru and the Toyota bZ4X. As far as we know, the new model will use a 71.4-kWh battery pack, and it will be able to go 225 miles (362 kilometers) with a single charge. For comparison, the AWD-equipped bZ4X can cover 228 miles, just like the Solterra.

2023 Lexus RZ 450e Price, Release Date

Pricing details of the all-new Lexus RZ 450e have yet to be disclosed. However, we expect it to be significantly cheaper compared to the bZ4X XLE which costs $44,080.

So, the loaded RZ could hit the $50,000 mark, which is more than the bZ4X Limited trim that cost $46,700. Just like sedan models, we expect this SUV to be available to purchase in the first quarter of the next year.
