A couple of days ago, Lexus shared the first images of its upcoming electric crossover, called RZ. The new 2023 Lexus RZ looks attractive, and it’s related to the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra models. To go along with those models, the RZ is likely to have a more sumptuous interior. On top of that, the RZ will likely use a more powerful drivetrain than those mentioned models.
We’re expecting the RZ to wear the designation RZ450e, which suggests more than the 400 horsepower in total, thanks to a two-motor form. We think that the Lexus will also use an all-wheel-drive setup as standard and at least an eight-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Lexus RZ Design
The teaser images of the upcoming 2023 Lexus RZ reveal a completely new design language of the manufacturer. As far as we know, the first electric Lexus model will likely ride on a new e-TNGA electric car platform, which is already used on models like the Toyota bZ4X and its Subaru Solterra.
Thanks to its own unique design, the RZ features a razor-edged nose and super-slim LED headlights. The rear doors are bigger on the RZ, compared to bZ4X’s, which suggests that the RZ is a much longer vehicle. At the back, the teased SUV features unique taillights, similar to the ones we saw on the Jaguars F-Pace model.
Interior Rumors and Safety Features
Right now, the manufacturer didn’t reveal any information regarding the interior of the 2023 Lexus RZ. From what we hear, the forthcoming electric SUV will be no less comfortable than the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra models. So, we’re expecting very supportive seats and plenty of room to fit five passengers.
The new infotainment is likely as well, and as the RX model, we’re expecting the same simulated leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The infotainment system will support Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, and probably Amazon Alexa compatibility.
As for the safety features, the new RZ will include forward-collision warning, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring.
2023 Lexus RZ Engine Specs
The forthcoming 2023 Lexus RZ is an all-electric SUV that will use an all-wheel-drive two-motor setup. The company stated that the new engine would be called Direct4 and it should deliver 201-horsepower on both the front and rear axle. Thanks to that, we can count that the RZ450e could make around 350 or 400 horsepower in total.
2023 Lexus RZ Release Date, Price
The new 2023 Lexus RZ will go on sale sometime next year. As far as we can say, this model is likely to have a more powerful engine than its Toyota siblings. The company shared details on a powertrain, and it should deliver 201-horsepower with an electric motor on both the front and rear axle.
Considering that, the RZ450e could make around 350 or 400 horsepower in total. When it makes its debut, we’d expect the Lexus RZ to start around $50,000, while the F Sport version will probably cost even more.
