The new 2023 Mazda CX-90 has just been announced, and it will launch sometime next year. We expect this model to share many design cues with the CX-9, offering very attractive styling and a comfortable cabin. Alongside this model, the manufacture will also introduce CX-50 and CX70 models as well. Like the two-row CX-50, the three-row CX-90 will be offered with either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. You can also count of more than one six-cylinder powertrain. A plug-in hybrid variant is also on the table.
However, at this point, we don’t have any idea regarding the pricing of the upcoming CX-90. Considering that it will become Mazda’s new flagship model, replacing the aging CX-9, expect the price to be not affordable at all.
2023 Mazda CX-90 Design
In styling terms, we expect the 2023 Mazda CX-90 to wear the same design language as the recently showed CX-50 model. Mazda says the big difference between all upcoming CX models will be size and capacity. The Mazda CX-90 is the biggest SUV, and we expect it to receive the same recognized grille as the recently rendered CX-50 model.
As far as we know, Mazda will make the soul of the KODO design language more attractive, putting much more tinner headlights and more eye-catching grille. Based on leaked patent images, the design of the upcoming Mazda CX-50 and CX-90 will be visually without difference.
Cabin Rumors
Inside, the 2023 Mazda CX-90 will definitively offer more than the CX-9. The next flagship SUV will be more modern, keeping the same three-row layout. Anyway, expect the new model to offer more comfort and plenty of amenities through trims. From what we heard, the manufacturer will make the cabin more premium, and it will add much more standard equipment compared to the CX-9 model.
So, we presume a new information system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, 3-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry/ignition, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
2023 Mazda CX-90 Engine Specs
Both CX-70 and CX-90 models will inaugurate the new rear-wheel-drive platform, and they will be sold in the US with turbocharged straight-six gasoline engines. According to many reports, both models will also come with a choice of and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
We also expect a new generation of Skyactiv-X and Skyactiv-D straight-six gasoline and diesel engines, together with a four-cylinder gas mill to be available as well. Depending on the country, engine specs will vary. Mazda also has a plan to sell a mild-hybrid system in Europe, while in Japan, they will offer a straight-six diesel engine paired with mild-hybrid tech.
Price, Release Date
The three new SUVs are coming, including CX-50, CX-70, and CX-90 models. As far as we know, the 2023 Mazda CX-90 is the next flagship model that will replace the famous CX-9 model. As mentioned, we don’t have any idea regarding the pricing of the upcoming SUV.
Many believe that it will cost a couple of thousand dollars more than the CX-9. All models above will arrive sometime next year, probably in the half of 2022.
