The new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA is a subcompact luxury crossover that will hit showrooms next year. From what we heard, don’t expect any massive changes to the GLA for the 2023 model year. That’s primarily because the last model was redesigned significantly, so we should welcome only small changes this time.

In general, the manufacturer will mostly redesign the cabin of this small crossover adding more high-quality materials, and the updated Mercedes Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system. However, like the outgoing model, the new Mercedes-Benz GLA will continue to use the same punchy 221-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine as standard. AMG variants will also be available, and it will pack 302 horsepower in the GLA AMG 35 or 382 horses in the range-topping AMG GLA 45 model.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA Redesign

The design of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA remains fabulous. As before, this SUV wears the similar front fascia as the A-Class sedan. The body lines are attractive and a little bit of muscle. However, if you prefer more sporty appearance, the manufacturer is also offering AMG models.

The models that wear the AMG badge will come with more unique grille, wheels, and body kit. There’s also a Night Package that will make this model even more eye-catchy thanks to a black accent. In terms of size, this SUV is proportionally similar to the BMW X2 and Volvo XC40. However, it seems it’s a bit smaller than the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

Cabin Refreshments

On the inside, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA is more elegant than its predecessor. For 2023, Mercedes added more quality materials mixing it with hard plastics. Passenger space is pretty roomy, and this small crossover offers comfortably for up to four adults with a good amount of headroom and legroom. However, cargo space behind the rear seats is pretty tight, compared to the BMW X1. As standard, the GLA includes MBUX infotainment system of 7-inch loaded with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

On top of that, voice control system is available, which should keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. We’re also expecting safety tech features such as a backup camera, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, attention assist, and crosswind assist.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA Powertrain Specs

The new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA base engine will use an efficient turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 that makes 221 horses with 258 lb.-ft of torque. As you can see, this powertrain has plenty of power and is linked to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, offering quick and satisfying shifts. Front-wheel drive comes standard, while the 4Matic AWD system is optional.

Besides this engine, the manufacturer also offers two AMG Performance versions. The AMG GLA 35, which comes with the same engine as the base one, delivers 302 horses with 295 lb.-ft of torque. The more powerful is the AMG 45 model, producing 3823 horsepower. Both AMG variants are quick, and the AMG GLA 35 can run from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds, while the AMG GLA 45 is able to hit 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds.

The forthcoming 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA is a subcompact SUV that should hit stores next year. Most likely, the new model will be available to purchase before summer. Considering small changes and upgrades this time, we’re expecting the new SUV to remain in the same pricing range.

The current Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 starts at $36,400, while with 4Matic AWD, it begins at $38,400. On the other hand, the AMG GLA 35 starts at $47,950, while GLA 45 at $54,950, respectively. The BMW X1 and Audi Q3 are both in the same class, but they have a much lower starting price.
