The new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class will arrive next year, featuring some additional upgrades. This SUV is sitting atop the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup thanks to its attractive design and modern cabin. Like the previous generation, the new one will offer room for up to seven, while optional second-row captain’s chairs reduce occupancy to six.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class uses a 362-hp turbocharged inline-six that’s assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system. All-wheel drive is standard as the air suspension. Fuel economy is also good, but it’s aligned with other large SUV rivals such as the Lincoln Navigator and the Land Rover Range Rover.

From the available information, the upcoming model will get more attractive front fascia thanks to some modification. First of all, we can expect more eye-catchy styling on the front thanks to revised grille and sharper headlights.

The AMG GLS 63 has a few extra touches that will separate it from the regular variant. This model has better aerodynamic and alloy wheel designs. This model is also housing a bespoke AMG grille with vertical slats. You can also get an optional Night package that adds black exterior elements, including the alloy wheels. The Maybach GLS 600 is pinnacle of the offer, and it comes with 2-tone exterior color schemes, massive 22-inch alloys, chromed mesh-covered air inlets and a badge-free grille.

Cabin Upgrades

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class will reportedly share many design cues with the new S-Class. It comes standard as a 7-seater, offering sufficient room for adults in all three rows. Moreover, buyers can also choose a pair of captain’s chairs for the second row, reducing the room for six. The cargo space goes from 17.4 to 84.7 cubic feet when folding seats.

The dashboard is revised, and it reminds us of the S-class. It features a twin-screen/one-unit arrangement with 12.3 inches on the diagonal. The manufacturer also offers Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, 64-color ambient lighting, and a 115-volt domestic-style outlet as standard.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is flagship SUV that’s powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, delivering 362 horsepower. This engine uses a 48-volt hybrid system, and it comes with all-wheel drive as standard. According to some tests, the GLS450 can run to 60 mpg with this engine in 5.5 seconds.

Besides this engine, the manufacturer also offers a more powerful hand-built twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. This engine propels Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 model and is capable to produce 603 horsepower and 627 lb.-ft of torque. On top of that, transmission and all-wheel-drive system have been tuned and optimized exclusively by AMG, making this SUV more powerful.

Release Date, Price

Despite small changes and upgrades, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is still in line with models such as the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Infiniti QX80. We expect this model to go on sale next summer, starting at $77,200 for the GLE450, plus a destination charge.

The GLS 580 4Matic is almost $100.5k, while the high-performance Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 is around $135k. The most expensive is the ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 that’s about $165k. The closest rival od of the AMG GLS 63 is the M50i X X7 with a price just above $100k.
