A new generation of the full-size pickup truck Toyota Tundra will arrive next year, which can only mean that a new 2023 Toyota Sequoia should also come shortly after. Like the previous generation, the upcoming Sequoia will be closely related to the Tundra.
Both models will use an updated architecture, and both will share plenty of design cues. Toyota’s new SUV will use the latest automaker’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform that underpins the 300-series Land Cruiser. Besides the platform, we can also expect these models to be powered by the same new six-cylinder powertrains, possibly including a hybrid.
2023 Toyota Sequoia Exterior Expectations
The forthcoming 2023 Toyota Sequoia is a full-size SUV that will use the latest automaker’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform. The same platform also underpins the recently revealed 300-series Land Cruiser. However, unlike the Land Cruiser and Tundra models that use a solid rear axle, the Sequoia should come with an independent rear suspension setup. This is typical for three-row SUVs. T
For 2023, we expect Sequoia to get a more stylish front end that should include a revised grille and headlights. The off-road-focused TRD Pro model should arrive as well with a more aggressive look. Differences between Tundra and Sequoia are evident primarily on the front end, and Sequoia’s grille looks less dramatic.
Toyota has recently revealed some details of the Tundra’s interior, and we expect the same equipment to available inside the upcoming Sequoia. This including a larger center-mounted touchscreen with Apple CarPlay capability and a JBL sound system. Overall, compared to the previous generation, this should be a big improvement.
These changes will put Sequia in a very good position to compete with other three-row SUVs’. The main rival Ford is going to update its next Expedition full-size SUV with a new infotainment screen as Chevy did with the Tahoe model. So, expect at least Sequoia to come with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, and wireless charging.
2023 Toyota Sequoia Engine Specs
Like the Tundra model, the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia should also use the same powertrain. From the information that we got, the new SUV will be available with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine making 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque in the Land Cruiser.
A hybrid drivetrain is also likely because we saw the blue lettering in a teaser image. Each powertrain will most than likely use the same 10-speed automatic transmission and rear as standard. Moreover, four-wheel-drive configurations will be available as well but only optionally.
Release Date and Price
According to many reports, the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia will be released shortly after the debut of the Tundra truck. It should arrive sometime next year, likely as a 2023 model to follow the Tundra. The new model will look much more aggressive, featuring many upgrades over the outgoing model.
We also expect much more standard features across all trim levels and much better driver assistance. Also, from what we heard, both models will be built in Toyota’s factory in San Antonio, Texas. Like before, the main rivals of this amazing SUV are models like Ford Expedition and the Chevy Tahoe.
