BMW’s entry-level crossover is coming completely redesigned for the 2023 model year and considering the full overhaul, we would normally expect no bigger changes for the 2024 BMW X1, which will represent the second production year of the new generation. However, the Bavarian carmaker left something for the second production year as well. More precisely, we are about the see the M35i model. This one will come with all kinds of upgrades compared to the standard version. On the other hand, base models will carry on in the same way. The company is currently focused on other projects, such as X8 SUV.
The M35i will bring an upgraded engine, upgraded suspension and upgraded styling. On the other hand, standard models will continue in a familiar way. We are about to see a design that hasn’t changed the original formula of this SUV. Once again, you get an attractive and engaging SUV, packed in a compact but pretty functional shape. We also like its nice interior, along with a pretty functional cargo area. However, its bigger siblings, X3 and X5 are at a big advantage here.
The 2024 BMW X1 should arrive sometime in the second half of the next year.
2024 BMW X1 M35i Model
As we’ve just mentioned, the biggest novelty for the second production year should be the addition of a performance version. That model will come with all kinds of upgrades, starting from an upgraded suspension and brakes. Of course, we count on a lot of new styling details, which will accentuate the model’s improved performance. Some of the things that come to mind are a new, more aggressive front bumper, new wheels, new exhaust pipes, exclusive color options etc.
Of course, another important aspect of the 2024 BMW X1 M35i will be the engine. The well-known 2.0-liter turbo-four will be upgraded and although we still don’t have the exact numbers, some sources suggest a max output of around 350 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. Just like the standard model, this one should also come with the new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
2024 BMW X1 Changes
On the other hand, the base 2024 BMW X1 will continue in the same way. We are about to see a design that was introduced just recently. It brought a lot of changes compared to the previous generation. First of all, there is the new styling, which brings mostly evolutionary changes. Of course, the grille is bolder and bigger than before, though far from being oversized, like it happened in certain models from the Bavarian carmaker. On the other hand, the overall shape remained largely the same, though the new model feels slightly more muscular.
When it comes to mechanics, we saw evolutionary changes and upgrades over the previous model. Once again, the X1 offers a fantastic balance between comfort and athleticism. The steering is direct and precise, while the body roll is minimal. At the same time, the ride is smooth and the suspension absorbs road imperfections nicely.
2024 BMW X1 Engine Specs
The base version of the 2024 BMW X1 will continue with the same engine. We are talking about the familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which received a slight upgrade with the recent overhaul. The new version of the engine puts out 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and comes coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. What’s also worth mentioning is that the xDrive all-wheel drive system is part of the standard equipment.
The overall performance is pretty good, as the SUV needs around 6.2 seconds to hit 60mph. Also, you may count on pretty good fuel economy, which goes around 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
Features and Packages
We don’t expect to see any notable changes in this aspect. So, the list of standard equipment will include things like 18-inch alloy wheels, a power liftgate, a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, navigation, a 10.7-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto etc. The list of standard equipment also includes safety features like forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors etc.
There are also various optional packages on offer, starting from the Convenience package, which includes keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming mirrors and a wireless charging pad. The Premium package offers upgrades like a 12-speaker audio system, augmented-reality navigation system, automated parking, head-up display, surround-view camera etc.
The xLine package offers various styling upgrades, as well as bigger wheels, as well as nicer interior materials. the Shadowline package adds mirror caps and blacked exterior trim, while the M Sport package adds upgraded bumpers, adaptive suspension, upgraded steering wheel, sports seats and a few more advanced driver-assistance features.
Finally, there are a couple of standalone options, such as remote engine start, heated front seats and steering wheel, sports seats and trailer hitch.
2024 BMW X1 Release Date and Price
