The third generation of BMW’s original coupe SUV has been around since 2019 and the company is now working on updates,to keep this car fresh and relevant on the market. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the test mule was spotted a few times on the road, wearing a decent portion of camouflage. The 2024 BMW X6 should receive a typical mid-cycle refresh, with the styling changes in focus, but updates in other aspects as well.

The test mule wears a cover at the front, while the rear end remains transparent and without bigger changes. Therefore, we know what to expect in terms of aesthetics, where the changes should take the same approach as in the case of X5, which is the X6’s closest relative. Moreover, we also expect to see some changes on the inside, particularly on the dashboard. Finally, updates under the hood are likely to happen as well.

The 2024 BMW X6 should arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 BMW X6 will receive a mid-cycle refresh. This will be a typical facelift, with aesthetical updates in focus. From what we can see on the test mule, the camouflage covers only the front of the vehicle, which indicates that the rear end will probably remain untouched. On the other hand, the front end should get revisions in various areas. Some rendering photos already show a bolder grille, bigger air intakes, narrower headlights, and similar things. Of course, we expect to see other typical mid-cycle updates, such as new color options, new wheels designs, etc.

Under the sheet metal, things should remain the same. We don’t expect to see mechanical changes, at least not in terms of chassis and suspension setup. In these aspects, the X6 will continue in the same way, delivering the same ride quality that’s more about engaging handling than providing a smooth and comfortable ride.

Interior

The upcoming update won’t be just about exterior changes, as we already mentioned. Instead, we will also see changes on the inside, particularly in terms of the dashboard design. Namely, the 2024 BMW X6 should come with a new dash design, which will utilize the company’s latest design approach to the infotainment system and instrument cluster. We expect to see the same layout as in the X7, with the large panel that integrates two massive screens into a single unity. Furthermore, we presume that the upcoming update will bring novelties regarding new materials, color schemes and similar things.

On the other hand, the overall cabin layout will remain untouched we are about to see the same seating configuration, which offers spaciou sand comfortable front seats, along with the excellent driving position. The second row, although very generous with legroom, feels a little bit insufficient in terms of headroom, especially for taller passengers. Of course, the reason is behind the sloping roof design, which provides that coupe-like silhouette, which also has a negative impact on cargo space.

Features

Mid-cycle updates usually bring novelties regarding the standard and available equipment, so the 2024 BMW X6 should be any different. However, we don’t believe that many things could change, considering that the current, 2023 model is already generous with standard equipment. Other than the new screens, we presume that the base models will continue with tech goodies like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, navigation, a 10-speaker stereo and satellite radio.

Some of the currently optional features could become standard for sure, and we believe that things like wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 10- or 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo, a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound stereo and infotainment gesture control are some of the candidates for the place in the list of standard features.

2024 BMW X6 Engines

We may see some powertrain upgrades as well. At this point, it is still unclear whether the base inline-six is about to get a power upgrade or not. To remind you, the X7’s inline-six increased output from 335 to 375 horsepower, so we might see the same scenario in this coupe SUV.

On the other hand, we definitely expect to see the M50 replaced with the M60, which would come with the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, with 523 horsepower, but would get help from a mild-hybrid setup, to provide better fuel efficiency.

Finally, there is the matter of the M-badged version, which uses the same twin-turbo V8 but tuned up to 591 horsepower. It’s also available in the Competition version, where the max output goes all away up to 617 horsepower.

All units come paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.

2024 BMW X6 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 BMW X6 will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023. A bigger price increase shouldn’t happen, so base models should cost around 72.000 dollars. Models like Audi Q8, Porsche Cayenne and Maserati Levante are seen as some of the key competitors.
