Once one of the major brands in North America, Buick is mostly about the Chinese market these days. Therefore, it’s no wonder that there are few models that are designed for this market and can’t be found anywhere else. In some cases, the overall design is so good that the management decides to offer it in the U.S. as well. the 2024 Buick Envista SUV will be one of these models and the latest reports suggest it will hit the US market sometime in the second half of this year.

Originally designed for China, the new Envista will represent Buick in the compact segment. However, unlike the Envsion, it will come with a coupe layout, with a sloping roof that indicates competition with premium coupe SUVs, such as BMW X4, for example. Compared to the Chinese market version, we expect to see some differences, particularly in terms of the powertrain.

In terms of base design characteristics, we expect that the US-market Envista will bring the same overall layout. This is a very fresh crossover, introduced last year. So, it rides on the company’s latest VSS-F platform, the same one that underpins the Encore GX and Chevy TrailBlazer. However, this model is notably bigger, with dimensions that are rather typical for compact SUVs. It features 106.3 inches in wheelbase and 182.6 inches in total length.

In terms of the styling, things are a little bit different than the rest of the Buick lineup. That’s particularly notable at the front, where this model features significantly different headlights and grille, which are obviously designed to match the taste of Chinese customers. At the same time, we really like the rear-end design, with that coupe-like roofline, which clearly indicates that this is going to be a more affordable alternative to premium coupe SUVs, mostly made by German carmakers.

Interior

Interior design is another aspect that clearly shows that this model is different than to the rest of the lineup. You can see a significantly different dashboard, which looks more modern and more upscale. Most of the dash features clean lines, which come in a combination with a massive panel that integrated two 10.4-inch screens. One of them works as a digital instrument cluster, while the other runs the infotainment system. Despite the massive screens, there is still a fair amount of physical controls. You can notice them in the section of climate controls, as well as on the center console, while there is also a traditional gear lever.

When it comes to space, the front seats seem spacious and comfortable. The second row should offer a decent amount of legroom, though we are pretty sure that the coupe roof line will be critical for many back passengers in terms of headroom. For the same reason, the cargo area should offer less space than most compact crossovers.

Features

When it comes to the features list, it’s still early to talk about details. Not only that the new model is yet to come but keep in mind that the equipment groups could be organized in a different way compared to the Chiese-market version. Among things that are for sure, there are the aforementioned screens, which should be part of the standard equipment. Base models should also come with goodies like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while things like Navigation and wireless charging will probably be an option in higher trim levels.

Considering that this crossover is riding on GM’s latest VSS-F platform, we count on the implementation of the latest safety systems, so base models should stand pretty well in this aspect. More details on this matter are yet to come.

2024 Buick Envista SUV Engine

This is one of the aspects where we expect to see notable differences between the US and Chinese-market versions. The Chinese market model comes with a 1.5-liter turbo-four that puts out around 180 horsepower and comes coupled with a CVT. While that engine may be offered in North America as well, we presume it would remain reserved for base models in that case. On the other hand, higher trim levels would include something more capable.

That would refer to the 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 228 horsepower. Another big difference is that this engine would probably come coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission, while an all-wheel-drive layout would be standard.

2024 Buick Envista SUV Release Date and Price

The 2024 Buick Envista SUV has been conferment for the US market and it should arrive sometime in the second half of the year. At this point, it’s hard to predict a more precise launch date but we expect that base models will cost around 30.000 dollars. Of course, the price will go up with higher trim levels for sure, so we expect that the range-topping models could easily go over 45.000 dollars.
