The fifth generation of the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe has been confirmed, and we can expect the new variant to debut sometime next year. The full-size 3-row SUV, judging by the latest spy shots, will only get a mid-cycle refresh.
It features an updated front and rear fascia, some improvements inside, and the same three engine options as its predecessor. This means we can expect the base model to use a naturally aspirated 5.3-liter V8, while the RST, Z71, and Premier will use a 6.2-liter V8. Another option is under the hood of the Z71 using a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline-6.
Will 2024 Tahoe Be Redesigned?
The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe is a big SUV that measures 17.5 feet. It is in the same full-size SUV class where the Ford Expedition dominates. For the 2024 model, the manufacturer will make some refreshes, mostly on the front and rear.
A black grille is now available on the LS, LT, RST, and Premier trims, as is the new word “Chevrolet,” which replaces the previous logo. Also, it is worth mentioning that the lower trims will be offered with 18-inch alloy wheels, while the High Country models run on 22-inch alloys.
On the inside, the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe is modern yet spacious. The base LS trim offers a 3-person bench for the front row, turning this SUV into a 9-seater. However, models like LT, RST, and Z71 can accommodate eight, with an optional pair of captain’s chairs, which reduces the passenger count to seven. There is a maximum of 42 inches of legroom in the second row, while the third one offers 34.9 inches. The cargo area is also great and it ranges from 25.5 to 122.9 cubic feet. On the technology front, the forthcoming SUV will include a large infotainment system, Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Wi-Fi, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and six USB ports.
Safety is also one of the best in class thanks to a forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, plus automatic high beams and lane-keeping assistance.
2024 Chevrolet Tahoe Engine
Like the outgoing model, the new 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe uses as a base option a naturally aspirated 5.3-liter V8 making 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. However, you can also get a more powerful 6.2-liter V8 with the models RST, Z71, High Country, and Premier. This unit develops 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Lastly, the most fuel-efficient is a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline-6, which powers the Z71. According to Chevy, this engine is capable of generating 277 horsepower and the same amount of torque (460 lb-ft) as the bigger V8. All engines are using a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (RWD) as a standard setup. However, 4-wheel drive is on the options list or standard in the Z71.
2024 Chevrolet Tahoe Price, Release Date
Despite small improvements over the previous generation, the new 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe will most likely cost slightly more than before. Prices start at $53,000 for an LS version, while the top version, the High Country, could reach $80K. Compared to other models in the class, these figures are similar to those of the Nissan Armada, GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition, and Toyota Sequoia.
So, if you’re looking for a spacious SUV with a spacious cabin and standard wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, then this model is worth considering. According to many reports, we can expect sales of the new Tahoe to begin sometime in 2023.
