2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid, Without Doors: Review

The Bronco Sport has been around for a while and it received pretty good critics, as a more civilized version of the standard Bronco. Unlike the bigger sibling, this model rides on a car-like, unibody platform and shares many parts with models like Ford Escape. Most of the parts though are shared with the unibody pickup Maverick and it looks like the connection between the two models could become even closer, considering that the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid has been announced.

The arrival of an electrified powertrain was just a matter of time, considering all the benefits that come from this powertrain. Other than that, we don’t believe that bigger changes could happen, even though this is going to be the fourth production year of the model. We expect to see a familiar design, with familiar specs and features, so the launch date should be scheduled for a typical time of year, sometime in the last quarter.

2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid Specs

So, the biggest novelty for the next year will be the introduction of the Hybrid powertrain. At this point, we are still waiting for the officials but it looks like the specs will be the same as in the Maverick. This means that we are about to see a system that combines a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine with a single electric motor and CVT gearbox. The whole system offers a pretty decent max output of 191 horsepower, which is enough for more than decent performance.

Of course, one of the main benefits of this powertrain will be fuel economy. For reference, the Maverick Hybrid Returns around 33 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway, so we might see similar ratings for the Bronco Sport, which would put this model among the most efficient compact SUVs on the market.

The rest of the lineup will continue in the same way. Base models will continue with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, which puts out around 180 horsepower. For those who look for something peppier, there is a well-known 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower.

2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid Design

Design-wise, the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid won’t be any different than the standard, gasoline-powered model. This SUV is based on a familiar C2 platform and offers a good combination of comfort and off-road capability. All models come with selectable traction modes, while the Badlands trim brings further upgrades, in the form of a more rugged 4WD system, with a locking differential. We are not sure if the new Hybrid version will be offered in such a variant.

The styling should remain largely the same as well, though there is always a chance to see minor tweaks, which would accentuate the model’s electrified nature. We could also see things like exclusive color options and exclusive wheels designs.

Interior

On the inside, the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid should also feature the same layout as the gasoline model. This cabin is rather functional than stylish, with a dashboard that definitely won’t impress you with its look or materials. On the other hand, the build quality is good and everything looks assembled pretty well.

Thanks to the boxy shape, the Bronco Sport is pretty generous with headroom in both rows and expect this not to be compromised in the Hybrid version. So, count on two rows of seats, which are both generous with space and both accommodate adults with ease.

There is also a pretty decent cargo area, with 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats upright and up to 65.2 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

We don’t believe that the 2024 Ford Bronco Hybrid could be much different in this aspect. The gasoline model comes standard with an 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, voice recognition, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and multiple USB ports. Also, there are available upgrades like wireless device charging, navigation, a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, a 6.5-inch digital instrument cluster display, automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, a universal garage door opener, a household-style power outlet, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a moonroof.

When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams etc.

2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year. The price should be similar to the model with the turbo-four, so base variants should go around 35.000 dollars.

Bonus: How to Remove and Store Bronco Doors

The whole process is pretty simple and includes just a couple of steps. Of course, make sure to turn the ignition to the accessory mode first. Then open the windows and doors, and then turn off the ignition. After that, fold the mirrors and open the doors. Then, you will find fender and door protectors in the tool pouch – install them near the bottom door hinges and open the wire connector to release the connector. Pull it from the body. Use the provided hex tool, loosen and remove the lower hinge bolt, and then lift the door vertically. Place the door in the bag and zip it.
