The long-waited 2024 Ford Explorer has been unfortunately postponed for the next year. So, if you’re looking for an SUV that offers an attractive look, and it has enough room for people and their cargo, you must wait a little longer to get the new Explorer. For those who may not know, the Ford Explorer is one of the best-selling models in class, offering a comfortable and practical cabin for up to seven passengers. It is also one of the rarest SUVs that’s available in 10 different trims.
On the performance side, the base model uses a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 300 horsepower, while 3.0-liter V6 comes optionally, just like the hybrid one.
Will the 2024 Ford Explorer Be Redesigned?
The 2024 Ford Explorer is one of the best-looking SUV in class. Basically, we love how the new ST-Line trim transforms this model to look sportier. The ST-Line adds black exterior accents and badging, and black treatment to the headlights and taillights. It also rolls on new 20-inch wheels.
The Timberline version on the other hand adds steel skid plates and is slightly raised thanks to suspension. Platinum trim is the most favorite and one of expensive elevating aluminum exterior elements.
2024 Ford Explorer Interior
The cabin of the 2024 Ford Explore is functional and comfortable. As before, this SUV comes with a third row of seats, offering excellent comfort. However, we must mention rivals such as the Chevrolet Traverse and the Volkswagen Atlas that provide more comfort, especially on the rear bench.
On the technology side, the aging 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment will be finally replaced with a larger 10.1-inch one. So far, the larger screen has been only available as an optional. We expect it to support, as standard, Apple Car Play and Android Auto capability and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Every Ford Explore also comes with a voice-activated navigation, rear-seat entertainment system, and with 12-speaker B&O stereo system.
2024 Ford Explorer Engine Specs
The new 2024 Ford Explorer, just like the model before, will use the same powertrains. This SUV comes with a 300-hp turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that’s powering XLT, and Limited trims. However, the optional King Ranch, Platinum or ST models are available with a more powerful 400-hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. A hybrid version is also available, and it pairs a 3.3-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor. Thanks to that, the hybrid model has a combined output of 318 horsepower.
When properly equipped, the 2024 Ford Explorer can officially tow up to 5600 pounds. It uses a rear-wheel-drive platform, while all-wheel drive is optional. Like most of Ford’s models, the new Explorer will use a very smooth 10-speed automatic transmission.
