Hyunda’s luxury brand has been around for several years but most of us are still impressed with the amount of quality it gives for money. The GV70 is a perfect example and we consider it one of the best compact luxury crossovers on the market. The 2024 Genesis GV70 will represent the third production year and the Korean manufacturer prepares a big novelty. Namely, we will see an all-electric version of the crossover, which should offer a pretty respectable range and performance.

The rest of the lineup will carry on in the same way. So, count on two familiar powertrain options, which both offer strong performance. Furthermore, we simply love GV70’s interior, which looks elegant and offers pretty impressive quality. Of course, there is a pretty generous list of standard and available equipment, which come in a combination with a pretty attractive price.

While the all-electric version could arrive a little bit earlier than usual, the rest of the lineup shouldn’t arrive before the last quarter of the year.

2024 Genesis GV70 Is Getting an All-Electric Version

There is no doubt that this is going to be the biggest novelty for the next year. The 2024 Genesis GV70 will come in an all-electric iteration and from what we know so far, there will be at least two variants of the crossover. One of them will feature a single electric motor setup, though we still don’t know the power figures. On the other hand, the dual-motor version will offer all-wheel drive and a pretty respectable output of 429 horsepower.

This version should come in pair with a 77.4-kWh battery pack, which should ensure over 220 miles of range. Also, the all-electric GV70 will feature a pretty advanced battery technology with a pretty impressive charging speed that will be capable of charging 10-80% of the battery in just 18 minutes.

The rest of the lineup, on the other hand, will carry on in the same way. We are about to see two familiar powertrain options, starting from the base 2.5-liter turbo-four, which features a max output of 300 horsepower. It offers more than adequate performance, though we would rather choose the optional 3.5-liter turbocharged V6, which is good for 375 horsepower and offer notably better driving dynamics, as well as a much better sound. Both engines come in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which feels quite refined as well.

The base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which is quite typical for the segment. The V6 on the other hand is notably thirstier and returns around 19mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, which is below average for a compact luxury SUV.

Styling Updates

In terms of the overall design, things won’t change much. Of course, the all-electric version will come with a couple of exclusive details that accentuate its all-electric nature, but the overall exterior design will remain the same. Gasoline-powered models will carry on in the same way, with a familiar design, though we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor tweaks, such as new color options, wheels etc.

The same thing is with interior design. The GV70 has been around for a couple of years and we are still impressed with its cabin design. The dashboard utilizes classic, very elegant lines, while the materials are pretty impressive. We are even more impressed with the attention to detail, as well as the level of craftsmanship. Finally, there is a pretty generous list of standard and available equipment, which makes the cabin look even more impressive. Both rows of seats accommodate adult passengers pretty easily.

Features

We might see a couple of updates in this aspect but most things should remain the same. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 14.5-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a nine-speaker audio system, HD Radio, satellite radio, wireless device charging, four USB ports, Bluetooth, an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, proximity keyless entry and remote start.

Among options, you can currently find a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, tri-zone automatic climate control, ambient LED interior lighting, a 110-volt household-style power outlet, a panoramic sunroof and the Genesis Digital Key, a 16-speaker Lexicon audio system etc.

When it comes to safety features, the current model comes standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring,  rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, driver-attention monitoring etc.
