A few years ago, the Korean luxury carmaker amazed the automotive world with the brand-new GV80 mid-size SUV, which offered plenty of luxury and refinement at a significantly lower price than established names in the segment. The 2024 Genesis GV80 will represent the fourth production year of that model and from what we know so far, it won’t feature bigger changes. Namely, the company already announced a mid-cycle refresh for 2025, which clearly indicates no bigger changes for the next year’s version.

All this means that you may count on familiar design characteristics and features. This SUV has so much to offer, starting from a high-end cabin, a long list of standard features, two capable powertrain options, smooth and comfortable ride, large cargo area.

Considering that the 2024 Genesis GV80 probably won’t feature more notable changes, we are pretty sure it will arrive in a typical time of the year, sometime in the last quarter of 2023.

So, the 2024 Genesis GV80 will most likely be a typical carryover model. There’s nothing to worry about, considering that even though there won’t be any updates, this model will remain more than relevant on the market. Simply, it still feels fresh, both in terms of styling and mechanics. When it comes to styling, you can clearly see the G80’s DNA, as the front end looks pretty similar, with two-tier, super narrow headlights and a massive grille. The next year’s model might bring a few minor novelties like color options, but anything more than that would be a real surprise.

The mechanics are also shared with the mid-size sedan. So, we are talking about the same RWD-biased platform, although this SUV now comes standard with all-wheel drive. It features a pretty sophisticated suspension setup, which absorbs road imperfections in such a nice way and offers a butter-smooth ride. At the same time, the handling feels composed, so you won’t notice any lack of athleticism.

Interior

The cabin may be the best part of the GV80, thanks to the impressive overall quality. Although the Korean mid-size SUV is significantly cheaper than the German competition, it doesn’t lag behind at all, at least when it comes to interior design. The whole cabin is wrapped with super-fine materials, while attention to detail is impressive. We like the classic aesthetics of the dashboard and center console, which work perfectly well in a combination with a massive infotainment screen and other tech features.

Besides excellent quality, the 2024 Genesis GV80 will also offer plenty of passenger space. Base models come with two rows of seats and both accommodate adults with ease. The comfort is great, while the front seats also offer plenty of adjustability, so it’s pretty easy to find an ideal driving position. The third row is optional, but it isn’t particularly spacious.

The cargo area offers around 34.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind its second-row seats and a vast 84 cubic feet of the total volume, which is excellent for the class. The three-row version offers 11.6 cubic feet behind the back seats.

Features

We don’t expect to see any bigger changes in this aspect, so most things should remain the same as in the current model. This means that base models should come standard with goodies like a 14.5-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, wireless device charging, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 12-speaker stereo, an analog gauge cluster, keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, a digital key app, dual-zone automatic climate control and rear sunshades.

Among available upgrades, expect to find goodies like a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, tri-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, power soft-close doors and power rear sunshades, as well as a premium 21-speaker audio system.

2024 Genesis GV80 Engines

The 2024 Genesis GV80 will continue with familiar powertrain options on offer. Therefore, base models will continue with a 2.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 300 horsepower and offers pretty satisfying driving dynamics. Also, the 8-speed automatic transmission shifts quickly and operates smoothly, so the overall driving experience is pretty impressive.

If you’re looking for something peppier, there is the optional 3.5-liter turbo V6, which puts out 375 horsepower. It comes with the same 8-speed transmission and just like the base model, it comes standard with all-wheel drive.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base turbo-four returns around 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, while the turbo V6 is good for about 18/23 city/highway. Those are average ratings for the segment.
