After the last year’s mid-cycle refresh and the recent addition of the AWD system to the list of standard equipment, we are pretty sure that the current generation of Honda’s mid-size SUV still has a few more good years before it gets a full redesign. Therefore, we expect that the 2024 Honda Passport will come without more important updates. Instead, we expect to see a familiar layout, with minor updates only. Those minor updates could refer to new color options, appearance packages or new pieces of standard equipment.

On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same. This SUV has so many good things to offer, starting from a smooth and refined engine, spacious and practical cabin, generous cargo area and composed handling. On the other hand, the main complaint goes to the starting price, which is higher compared to rivals like Ford Edge or Chevy Blazer.

As no bigger updates are about to happen, we presume that the 2024 Honda Passport will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

The current generation has been around since 2019 and despite the mid-cycle refresh, the overall design remained largely the same. This mid-size SUV is based on, now, the previous generation of Honda Pilot, with most of the mechanics shared. The Passport is designed to be more engaging and more maneuverable, but still practical enough to satisfy all those buyers who look for a proper family hauler.

In terms of styling, the 2024 Honda Passport will continue with all the changes that were introduced with the 2022 update, which provided a bolder and more aggressive appearance. In terms of mechanics, not many things have changed since the initial launch but that shouldn’t be an issue, considering that the current model offers surprisingly engaging ride quality. Also, there is the TrailSport trim, which offers a couple of upgrades, but still isn’t a particularly capable off-roader.

Interior

On the inside, the 2024 Honda Passport is expected to carry on with the same cabin design, which has a lot of good things to offer. The overall quality is pretty good. Typically for Honda, everything feels assembled pretty well, while the selection of materials is also pretty decent. Furthermore, there is a decent list of tech features, which makes the cabin look even more upscale.

The front seats are very spacious, massive and supportive, so passengers can enjoy great ride quality. We particularly like the driving position, which offers excellent ergonomics and pretty good outward visibility. The second row is also pretty generous with space and accommodates three adults with ease.

Finally, there is a spacious cargo area, which offers around 41.2 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 77.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is excellent for a two-row mid-size SUV.

Features

We might see a few changes on the list of standard equipment but there is no doubt that most things will remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, base versions should already come with a lot of standard equipment, with things like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, wireless device charging, HD Radio, a seven-speaker stereo, Bluetooth and four USB ports, remote start, proximity keyless entry, a moonroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, a universal garage door opener and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Of course, the new standard features would come from the current list of options, which includes goodies like navigation, voice recognition, a 10-speaker premium stereo and a Wi-Fi hot spot, ambient interior lighting and a household-style power outlet.

All models will come with a full load of standard safety features. Some of the highlights are forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, road-departure mitigation, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, parking sensors, rearview camera etc.

2024 Honda Passport New Engine, Hybrid

The 2024 Honda Passport will carry on with a familiar powertrain. We are talking about a good-old 3.5-liter V6, which puts out around 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, which is plenty enough for strong driving dynamics and overall performance. The engine comes coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which also does a pretty good job. Starting from the 2023 model year, all models come standard with all-wheel drive.

Besides good performance, this SUV also offers decent fuel economy. You may count on about 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is typical fuel consumption for a mid-size SUV with a V6 engine. A properly equipped Password can to up to 5.000 pounds.

2024 Honda Passport Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Honda Passport will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 42.000 dollars. Of course, the competition remains the same – in the form of models like the Chevy Blazer, Ford Edge, Nissan Murano and Hyundai Santa Fe.
