With the recent redesign of Lexus LX, the QX80 has become the oldest full-size SUV on the market. The current generation has been around since 2010 when it was introduced along with its internationally offered counterpart, Nissan Patrol. Of course, the company did several updates meanwhile but this Infiniti simply can’t hide its age, no matter how hard Nissan engineers tried. That’s why it’s no wonder that many sources suggest a full redesign in the near future, maybe already with the 2024 Infiniti QX80. Allegedly, that model would arrive in late 2023 or the first half of 2024.

At this point, the officials are still quiet. However, we may presume that the new generation will ride on a significantly updated F-Alpha platform and that it will bring a lot of significant changes. Of course, one of them is the powertrain, which will be smaller and turbocharged. Furthermore, we count on new aesthetics and significantly improved interiors.

2024 Infiniti QX80 Redesign (Monograph Platform)

As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation has been around way too long. This is easy to notice once you sit inside this large SUV. Therefore, the upcoming redesign is about to bring comprehensive changes. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform, which won’t be all new. Instead, we are about to see a new version of the F-Aplha platform. The architecture will be significantly upgraded and updated, with new technologies, a new suspension setup and other things that will make this SUV a much better vehicle.

However, most reports suggest that this platform update won’t open up the possibility of an electrified powertrain. Instead, the company’s management believes that these types of vehicles need to retain internal combustion engines, which is why we expect only downsizing, but not electrification.

Exterior

So, this redesign is about to bring a full load of novelties. The first thing that comes to mind is the exterior design. As the current model, which was updated a few years ago, still looks pretty attractive, we don’t expect to see radical changes. Instead, we expect to see further evolution of the design language that was established with the Monograph concept.

The new design language would be implemented but the overall shape wouldn’t change too much. Some sources even suggest the same wheelbase. On the other hand, we heard rumors that also suggest an off-road version of this SUV. That particular variant would come with more rugged styling, as well as all kinds of off-road upgrades. The latter refers to things like upgraded suspension, two-speed transfer case, locking differential and similar things.

Still, we think that the company will care more about on-road manners. Therefore, expect to see a new, more refined suspension setup, which will make the ride smoother and minimize body lean.

Interior

While the exterior still looks fresh and attractive, the interior of the current model is a completely different story. The dashboard clearly shows that this SUV belongs to the past and that it needs a completely new design. We also count on further improvements regarding build quality and materials, even though the current model isn’t all that bad in these aspects. Naturally, we also count on new tech features, such as a new infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, new connectivity features, new driver-assistance features etc.

Rumors suggest that the 2024 Infiniti QX80 is about to feature similar dimensions and that also suggests similar interior space. Therefore, you may count on three rows of seats, where even the third row offers a reasonable level of comfort. Infiniti is known for making some of the most comfortable seats around, so we have no doubt that the front seats will be massive and supportive, with a high level of comfort. The cargo area should offer similar numbers to the current generation.

2024 Infiniti QX80 Engines

Big changes are coming under the hood, as there is no doubt that the old V8 will end its journey here. Although pretty capable, the current 5.6-liter V8 is large and heavy, with poor fuel economy. Instead, the new generation will rather come with something smaller, probably a turbocharged V6.

At this point, Nissan still doesn’t have a proper engine to fulfill this task. Some sources speculate about the 3.0-liter twin-turbo from the Q50 and Q60 models. Although pretty impressive, this 400-hp engine simply doesn’t offer enough torque for such a huge SUV.

Therefore, we rather believe that the Japanese engineers are currently working on a turbocharged version of the new 3.8-liter V6, which debuted in the new Frontier. Some sources speculate about a max output of around 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.

2024 Infiniti QX80 Release Date and Price

The 2024 Infiniti QX80 is still a rumor, while the officials are quiet. Therefore, it’s hard to estimate a more precise release date. The same thing is with the price, though we may presume it would be typical for the class, which would mean around 80.000 dollars for the base version.
