Jeep has just launched the smallest SUV in its lineup, but that’s the only interesting thing about it because this will also be the brand’s first vehicle with an all-electric powertrain. Considering dimensions, it’s not hard to figure out why this model is primarily for the European market. For now, it will only be produced in Poland. Despite the tiny size, it will still offer the key Jeep features, including a pretty high off-road potential.
Another interesting thing is that the all-electric version won’t be the only type of powertrain on offer. The styling will follow the brand’s philosophy. The cabin will still be able to accommodate adults in both rows, despite the size. Finally, count on a stylish and well-equipped interior, with the latest tech features and a good portion of safety and driver-assistance features.
The production of the 2024 Jeep Avenger already started. We expect that the new crossover will hit all European markets by the end of this year.
2024 Jeep Avenger Design
The 2024 Jeep Avenger is a brand-new model, the smallest SUV Jeep has ever made, smaller even than the Renegade. It features no more than 100.8 inches in wheelbase. The overall length goes just a little bit over 160 inches. With such tiny dimensions, this small Jeep seems perfect for an urban environment.
However, maneuverability won’t be its only strength. Although based on PSA’s CMP platform, this model will also feature Jeep’s well-known Selec-Terrain system with various drive modes, such as Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud and Sand. Furthermore, despite the modest 7.9 inches of ground clearance, this small crossover will still feature respectable 20 degrees of approach angle and 32 degrees of departure angle.
As we’ve just mentioned, the new SUV rides on the CMP platform, which means that many parts will be shared with models like Peugeot 2008, Opel Mokka, DS3Crossback etc. Still, you may count genuine Jeep design language, highlighted by the famous 7-slot grille and other elements that have been characterizing this brand for a long time.
2024 Jeep Avenger Powertrain
Once again, this will be the first Jeep to ride on PSA’s platform. The catch with this architecture is that it is highly modular, not in terms of size, but in the way that it can accommodate different types of powertrains. Expect to see both all-electric and gasoline-powered variants. Interestingly, the all-electric version will come first. That model will feature a setup that consists of a single electric motor mounted on the front axle, with a max output of 154 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. The electric motor comes with a 54-kWh battery pack, which should ensure more than 250 miles of range. Also, the battery supports a 100-kW charging speed, which means it can be 80% recharged in less than 30 minutes.
As for the gasoline version, that variant of the 2024 Jeep Avenger will use Peugeot’s familiar 1.2-liter turbo-four. This particular iteration will come in a mild-hybrid setup, with a small electric motor. The total output goes up to 155 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. We expect this engine to be available both in pair with a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Interior
As for the interior design, the 2024 Jeep Avenger offers exactly what you would expect from a small crossover. The build quality and materials aren’t spectacular but aren’t bad either. Also, the dashboard looks nice, with a digital instrument cluster, a relatively big infotainment screen and a good portion of physical controls, which will certainly make your life easier.
Considering dimensions, it’s hard to expect miracles when it comes to passenger space. Still, the front seats accommodate adults pretty easily, while we also the seats, which offer decent side support and good ergonomics. The second row is typically tight for the segment but still can accommodate two passengers pretty easily. We still haven’t got the numbers regarding cargo capacity, but things look typical for the class.
Features
The 2024 Jeep Avenger comes with a long list of driving assistance features. You get Level 2 autonomous driving as a part of standard equipment, which automatically adjusts speed and trajectory, and includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering.
The system also includes Traffic Jam Assist, while the list of safety features also includes goodies like Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, Drowsy Driver Alert, which alerts the driver when a moment of drowsiness affects attention, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keeping Assist, 360° parking sensors with Active Park Assist and 180° rear camera with drone view.
Besides safety, there is a good portion of convenience features. Some of the highlights are multi-color ambient light and a yellow dashboard fascia, premium heated black seats with yellow accents, a heated windshield, and a hands-free power liftgate.
2024 Jeep Avenger Release Date and Price
As mentioned, the 2024 Jeep Avenger will hit most European markets by the end of this year, though four-wheel-drive models will probably arrive in 2024. The pricing is yet to be announced.
