The 2024 Lexus LX 600 will represent the third production year of the current generation of the brand’s flagship SUV and even though it’s still early for things like mid-cycle refresh, it looks like big updates are actually coming. At this point, we are still waiting for the officials to confirm, but the next year’s model is likely to get a hybrid powertrain, finally. Also, various sources speculate about an off-road version SUV, which would bring some massive upgrades.
Despite the expected updates and novelties, the overall layout won’t change. This will still remain pretty much the same SUV, which has a lot of great things to offer. Of course, we like the overall build quality, along with a super-luxurious cabin and a long list of standard equipment. The base engine is already pretty capable, so things could only get better with the new hybrid version.
With the expected novelties, the 2024 Lexus LX 600 could arrive a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of the year.
2024 Lexus LX 600 Powertrain Updates
As mentioned, the next year’s model is likely to bring significant updates under the hood. Of course, the base LX 600 will continue in the same way, with the same 409-hp variant of the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6. On the other hand, the big novelty is expected to come in the form of a hybrid powertrain.
We are still unsure about verification, even though some sources suggest the LX 600h moniker. In any case, we expect to see a familiar system, based on the same V6 engine. Such a setup can already be found in Tundra and Sequoia, where it puts out 434 horsepower and 589 pound-feet of torque. Considering the “Lexus” badge, this version would probably feature a little bit more power. We estimate something around 450 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque.
2024 Lexus LX 600 Design
On the other hand, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of the overall design, at least when it comes to standard versions. The current generation is still pretty fresh, so we expect no notable changes. This SUV rides on a new TNGA-F platform and offers way better ride quality than its predecessor. The same thing is with the styling, which feels more mature and more elegant than before.
The current model is already a pretty decent off-roader, with an excellent 4WD system, crawl control and various drive models. However, it looks like the company is planning an optional off-road package, which would bring various improvements. One of the first things that come to mind is the suspension setup, with new components that would offer more travel and increase the ground clearance significantly. Furthermore, we could see three locking differentials, disconnecting sway bars, better tires and similar upgrades.
Interior
We don’t expect that the 2024 Lexus LX 600 could bring more important updates to the inside. The current model already looks impressive, with excellent build quality, plenty of attention to detail and very nice materials. Furthermore, there is a good portion of tech features and other standard features that make the cabin look very luxurious.
For the sake of off-road potential, Lexus engineers decided not to increase the wheelbase, so things are pretty much the same as the previous model. For that reason, this is far from the most spacious model in the class. The front seats are spacious and feature excellent seats, while the second row also offers plenty of comfort. On the other hand, the third row is very tight and it can barely accommodate kids. The cargo capacity is another weak point of this luxury SUV. You may count on about 11 cubic feet behind the third row, up to 46 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 71 cubic feet of the overall cargo volume. Those are below-average ratings for the class.
Features
The current model already comes loaded with standard features, so we don’t expect bigger changes for the next year. The base model should carry on with similar things, such as 12.3-inch and 7-inch touch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-speaker premium stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, wireless device charging, navigation, Bluetooth and four USB ports. Base models also come equipped with goodies like an 8-inch digital instrument cluster display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener and a moonroof.
With such a long list of standard equipment, it’s easy to conclude that there aren’t many features left on the list of options. Some of the upgrades you can get are goodies like a 25-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo, a rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.4-inch displays, two additional USB ports, ambient interior lighting and a console cooler.
2024 Lexus LX 600 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Lexus LX 600 will arrive this fall. The price shouldn’t be significantly different from the current model, which starts at around 88.000 dollars. Of course, the competition will remain the same, in the form of models like Range Rover Sport, Cadillac Escalade, Jeep Grand Wagoneer etc.
