2024 Nissan Armada Full Redesign and Price Estimations

It looks like Nissan is about to do the same thing with the Armada as it did with the Frontier, which would mean the new engine first, and then a full redesign. More precisely, we expect that the 2024 Nissan Armada will feature a new engine, while the full redesign will happen a year or two later. The good-old V8 will be replaced with a more efficient turbo V6 and from what we can hear, the Japanese manufacturer is working on a brand-new powertrain.

The full redesign will have to wait, which means that the 2024 Nissan Armada will feature the same overall design, which received an update a few years ago with new styling and then a new infotainment screen. Despite its age, this SUV still has a lot of good things to offer, starting from an upscale interior, a long list of standard equipment, spacious seats etc.

Despite the new powertrain, the 2024 Nissan Armada probably won’t come much earlier than usual. So, we expect to see it sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2024 Nissan Armada Will Get New Engine

Without any doubt, the biggest novelty for the 2024 Nissan Armada will be the new engine. Nissan has finally decided to replace the old V8. Although capable and very reliable, this 5.6-liter V8 belongs to another era of the automotive industry and can hardly keep pace with more efficient units from rival models.

Therefore, the next year’s model is about to come with a completely new engine. Allegedly, the company is working on a brand-new 3.5-liter turbo V6, which would offer a respectable amount of power in a combination with high efficiency. For reference, the old V8 features a max output of 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The new turbo V6 would offer a similar amount of power but probably notably more torque.

Some sources suggest that the new engine could actually be a turbocharged version of the recently introduced 3.8-liter V6 from Frontier. In any case, we will have to wait for a little bit more to find out.

Also, some sources suggest that the current 7-speed automatic transmission could make room for a newer 9-speed unit. The officials are still quiet on this matter.

Redesign

On the other hand, the overall design will remain the same. This SUV received an update a few years ago and still looks pretty attractive. However, the mechanical aspect would use updates, so we don’t know if the new engine would be able to compensate for other drawbacks of the current design.

Namely, although introduced in 2016, the current generation of Armada actually features a design from 2010, considering that the overall design has no differences compared to the Patrol, which has been sold worldwide. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the Armada feels a little bit old when it comes to the driving experience, whether it’s about comfort or athleticism.

Along with Patrol, the Armada also shares DNA with Infiniti QX80 and that’s most notable on the inside. The interior isn’t much different compared to the luxurious sibling, so the cabin actually looks better than you would expect. The build quality is pretty impressive, and the materials are also very nice. Also, the recent update brought a new, massive infotainment screen, which makes the cabin look even more upscale.

When it comes to passenger space, the front seats are very generous with space and also offer great support and overall comfort. The second row is also very spacious and accommodates three adults with ease. That is not the case with the third row, which is tighter than you would expect in this class but still quite functional.

The cargo area offers around 16.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 49.9 cubic feet with the third row folded and 92.6 cubic feet of the total volume. Although plenty of space, this is still less than you get from models like Ford Expedition and Chevy Tahoe.

Features

The 2024 Nissan Armada might get a few novelties in this aspect but we are pretty sure that most things will remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, we presume that base models will come standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, four USB ports, a four-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, a 7-inch driver information display, dual-zone automatic climate control and proximity keyless entry.

Higher trim levels should offer upgrades like Amazon Alexa, wireless device charging, a dual-screen second-row entertainment system, an additional USB port, a six-speaker audio system, a 13-speaker Bose audio system, remote start, a 120-volt household-style power outlet, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener and a moonroof.
