The current generation of Toyota’s legendary compact SUV is the best-selling crossover in the world for a reason. It comes with a quite versatile design, which offers a high level of functionality in a combination with impressive fuel economy. Moreover, the current generation still looks pretty attractive. However, it is getting old, so it’s no wonder that some reports suggest a full redesign in the near future, maybe already for the 2024 Toyota RAV4. Some renderings already appeared but, on the other hand, the officials are still quiet.
In our humble opinion, the current generation still has a lot to say and that’s why we don’t expect such a quick redesign. Instead, the 2024 model year should be one of the final versions of the current model, which has been on the market since 2018. Minor updates are always possible but we are pretty sure that the overall design will remain the same.
Considering the lack of updates, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 shouldn’t arrive before the second half of 2023.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 will most likely carry on in the same way. We expect to see a familiar design, which has a lot of things to offer. Of course, the great fuel economy of all powertrains is the first thing that comes to mind, but this SUV also offers good handling and overall driving experience. It is easy to drive and comfortable at the same time, thanks to the well-balanced chassis and nice suspension setup.
When it comes to styling, the 2021 refresh brought a couple of updates, such as new LED headlights and wheels. However, most things remained the same and we don’t look at that as an issue. Simply, the current model still looks attractive enough to compete with the younger competition.

Interior
Unlike some previous generations of RAV4, the current one actually looks pretty attractive. It combines modern aesthetics with nice materials pretty well, while the build quality is at a pretty high level. Furthermore, the sound insulation is actually pretty good, which isn’t always the case with Toyota models.
Besides good overall quality, the RAV4 also offers plenty of space on the inside. The front seats are well-shaped, massive and supportive. The second row is also pretty spacious and accommodates adults with ease.
The RAV4 accommodates five adults with ease, while the cargo capacity is also pretty respectable. You may count on about 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row, which is excellent for the segment. The overall cargo capacity is nearly 70 cubic feet, which is also pretty good, though less than you get from rivals like Honda CR-V or Subaru Forester.
Best Features
Yearly updates are mostly about additions in terms of standard equipment, so the 2024 Toyota RAV4 could come with some of them. However, we expect that most things are about to remain the same as in the current model. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a six-speaker stereo, voice recognition, Bluetooth, and a USB port.
The current list of available features includes things like an 8-inch touch screen, an 11-speaker JBL premium stereo, navigation, wireless device charging, four additional USB ports, HD Radio, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, a moonroof, a panoramic roof, a universal garage door opener, ambient interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and a household-style power outlet. We presume that some of these things could become standard in the next year.
When it comes to safety features, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, rearview camera etc.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Powertrains and Specs
Surprises in this aspect are not expected. So, you may count on one gasoline and two hybrid versions. Base models will continue with a familiar 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out around 203 horsepower. The engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the overall performance is pretty good. Also, you may count on 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, which is great for a compact SUV.
Fuel economy is even better with a hybrid powertrain, which features a system based on the same engine. The max output goes around 220 horsepower, while the average fuel economy is 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.
Finally, there is the RAV4 Prime, a plug-in hybrid version of the SUV, with a max output of 302 horsepower. Besides excellent acceleration, this model offers 42 miles of range in EV mode.
