The all-new 2024 Volvo EX90 has been revealed as the company’s top-of-the-line SUV. As far as we know, the Concept Recharge will serve as a model for the outside design. This means that the new car will be sleeker than the XC90, but it will still have Volvo design elements like LED headlights shaped like Thor’s Hammer and taillights that point up.

Unfortunately, at this point, we don’t know anything about the EX90’s engine, battery size, or driving range yet, but we think it will have specs similar to the smaller XC40 Recharge SUV. Volvo says that the EX90 will also introduce the company’s next-generation driver-assistance technologies. Reportedly, the new SUV will cost more than the gasoline XC90 when it goes on sale next year.

First Look at the 2024 Volvo EX90

The current generation of the Volvo XC90 is a real example of the Swedish design aesthetic. So, the new 2024 Volvo EX90 will feature an attractive grille panel and a pair of headlights shaped like Thor’s Hammers and corner vent inlays. The similar design we saw on the Recharge Concept from the previous year remains.

The rear section, on the other hand, features unique split-unit taillights. Direct lighting is provided by a C-clamp unit that spans the whole width of the rear glass positioned vertically.

A Modern and Roomy Interior

The new 2024 Volvo EX90 will be modern and spacious inside. Thanks to new underpinnings, this SUV will get the raised dimensions of the massive three-row crossover. Interestingly, the interior patent images are available, and they show a horizontally themed dashboard with a big infotainment screen structured in the shape of a portrait. Anyway, we didn’t notice an instrument cluster in front of the driver.

So, we believe that the important driver information may be shown through a steering-column display or an head-up display system.

2024 Volvo EX90 Motor Specs, Battery Capacity, Range

From what we heard, both a single and a dual-motor setup will be available to power the new 2024 Volvo EX90. We expect the output to range anywhere between 400 and 455 horsepower. As for battery storage, we expect a 100-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supports an 800-volt design. This will make it possible to have competitive DC fast-charging and a driving range of more than 372 miles (600 km).

Price and Release Date

Although pricing and available packages are unknown at the moment, we believe that the gasoline-free EX90 will have a basic price that is higher than the XC90 SUV. Volvo has recently reduced the number of different trim levels that are available, and we anticipate that the EX90 will adhere to the new configuration.

This new configuration should have, from some reports, a Core trim as the entry-level choice, starting at $70k, a Plus model as the middle ground, and an Ultimate model with all features included. The new Volvo EX90 will debut on November 9 in Europe, while sales should start sometime next year, probably in the fall.
