In the segment of compact luxury SUVs, the XC60 definitely deserves a lot of attention. If you’re looking for a vehicle in this class, be sure that the XC60 definitely has a lot of great things to offer, starting from the elegant styling, high-quality interior and a long list of standard and available equipment. The 2024 Volvo XC60 will also continue with pretty impressive powertrain options, including a super-capable plug-in hybrid version.
Considering the 2022 refresh, as well as the update of the plug-in hybrid in 2023, we presume that the next year’s model will carry on without more important changes. We expect to see a familiar layout, which still looks quite competitive, even though the current generation has been around since 2017. Many rivals are younger, but not many of them can compete with the Swedish crossover.
As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
2024 Volvo XC60 Redesign
As mentioned, the 2024 Volvo XC60 should be a typical carryover model. The current generation is expected to remain in production for a few more years and therefore, we expect to see familiar designs and features. This SUV has been updated in 2022 and these subtle updates will certainly keep the model fresh for a few more years. All in all, the best we could see in the next year’s model are minor tweaks. This refers to new color options and other small updates.
The mechanical aspect of the vehicle will certainly remain the same. This SUV offers a pretty nice suspension setup, which ensures a smooth and comfortable ride. It’s not the most athletic SUV in the segment, but the ride is super smooth and comfortable, perfect for longer journeys.
The same thing is with interior design. Only minor updates are possible, considering that the current model already looks impressive, despite its age. The dashboard utilizes clean shapes and lines, offering a very clean design. The elegant styling is complemented by a generous offer of high-quality materials, while the generous offer of tech features makes everything look even more luxurious.
Besides great quality and elegant design, this crossover is also very generous with space. The front seats are massive and supportive, with plenty of room. The second row is also very roomy and accommodates adults with ease. Moreover, the cargo area also offers pretty impressive numbers for the class. You may count on about 22.4 cubic feet of room behind the back row and 63.3 cubic feet. This is one of the largest cargo areas in the class.
Yearly updates are usually about the new standard and available features. So, we might see some of them in the 2024 Volvo XC60 as well. Still, we don’t expect to see much, as the current model is already pretty impressive in this aspect. The current model comes standard with goodies like a 9-inch touch screen, a 10-speaker stereo, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, Bluetooth and Google-based navigation, as well as a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, remote keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control and a panoramic moonroof.
Among options, you can currently find goodies like a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, quad-zone automatic climate control etc. We presume some of these could become part of the standard equipment.
The same thing goes for the safety features, though we have to say that the current model already stands extremely well in this aspect. All models come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The only upgrades you can get are a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control and head-up display.
2024 Volvo XC60 Specs
We expect three familiar powertrain options offered in the 2024 Volvo XC60. Base models would continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four that puts out around 247 horsepower. The engine comes coupled with a mild-hybrid setup and offers pretty good fuel economy. In numbers that would be around 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
There is also an upgraded version of this engine, with an additional supercharger. This unit puts out 295 horsepower and offers notably better driving dynamics. However, it is also notably thirstier, with 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid version, with 455 horsepower. The last year’s model brought a bigger battery, so the all-electric range now goes up to 35 miles.
2024 Volvo XC60 Release Date and Price
Considering that no bigger changes are about to happen, the launch date should be scheduled for the last quarter of the year. No bigger changes should happen, so base models should go around 45.000 dollars. Key competitors are German rivals, models like Audi Q5, BMW X3 etc.
