Nissan’s luxury division desperately needs something that can turn the wheel in its favor, as the brand has been fighting a massive decline in sales numbers in the last several years. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the latest trademark submission has drawn so much attention. Namely, the company recently submitted a QX65 trademark and we are pretty sure that this nameplate is going to be used for a new coupe crossover. The new model will reportedly arrive already in the next year, as the 2025 Infiniti QX65.
So far, the officials neither confirmed nor denied this but if we look at the correlation between QX50 and QX55 models, we are pretty sure we know what to expect from this model. We expect to see a mid-size coupe SUV, which will compete with similarly designed models, such as the BMW X6 or Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. Without further ado, let’s dive into what we expect to see from the brand-new crossover.
2025 Infiniti QX65 Design
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the base design and here, we don’t expect to see any surprises. Things are pretty simple and we count on the same overall design as in the QX60. That three-row SUV receive a full overhaul recently and seems like a perfect basis for the new SUV, which would probably feature the same mechanics. This refers to the whole platform and includes suspension and chassis setup as well, so we might see a pretty similar driving experience as well.
The key difference would be in terms of the styling. Namely, the new model would come with a sloping roof design and deliver a design that is commonly known as a coupe SUV. With such a design approach, the new model would look more aggressive and more attractive, even though the front-end design would probably remain the same.
On the inside, the key difference will be the absence of the third row. Due to the aforementioned sloping roof design, we expect to see just two rows of seats and even the second-row headroom might be compromised to some point. For the same reason, the cargo are should be notably smaller.
The first two rows, on the other hand, shouldn’t bring any bigger change. We expect to see the same amount of space, along with the same front seats, which are some of the best in the class, famous for their massive design and excellent comfort. Furthermore, we expect to see the same dashboard design, which comes with modern aesthetics and pretty impressive build quality that includes super-fine materials and a lot of attention to detail. Naturally, this should also involve the same tech and convenience features, including a massive 12.3-inch infotainment screen, along with the standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
2025 Infiniti QX65 Engine
As for the powertrain, we definitely don’t expect to see surprises. Therefore, the 2025 Infiniti QX65 should come with the same 3.5-liter V6, which puts out 296 horsepower. Besides plenty of power, this engine also offers a very high level of overall refinement and with it works perfectly in the combination with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front wheels in base models and, optionally, to all wheels.
Besides a high level of refinement, this powertrain should also ensure respectable fuel economy. Namely, the QX60 is good for about 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is above average for the segment and the new 2025 Infiniti QX65 should offer pretty much the same figures. The same figures we expect in terms of towing capacity, whereas the QX60 can tow between 3.500 and 6.000 pounds, depending on the configuration.
As a model that’s about to compete with German rivals, the 2025 Infiniti QX65 will certainly come with lots of standard and available equipment. We expect things to be pretty similar to the QX60, which comes standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, Bluetooth, USB ports, Wi-FI hotspot, wireless charging, digital instrument cluster, tri-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof etc.
The same is with safety features, so we expect that the base QX65 will come with things like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, rain-sensing wipers and many more.
Additionally, there should be available upgrades like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, surround-view camera, traffic-sign recognition, head-up display, driver-attention monitoring etc.
2025 Infiniti QX65 Release Date and Price
While the 2025 Infiniti QX65 is still waiting for official confirmation, various reports suggest it will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2024. If that happens, we expect to a notably higher starting price compared to the QX60, whereas the base models would probably go around 55-60.000 dollars. As mentioned, key competitors would be models like BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, Audi Q8 etc.
